47heaven Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 While driving today, the clutch return spring I bought at Auto Zone broke at one of the tips leaving a lot of play in the clutch pedal. Mind you, this was installed a year ago so the spring is not that old. Ok...I know...I guess I get what I deserve for buying a spring at Auto Zone. Does anybody know where better springs are sold? Ones that can take the stretching better and last longer. Quote
greg g Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Most everything comes from the chinese embassy so whether you get it at A zone, Ace, True Value it all the same junque. Even the Dorman stuff is off shore these days. You might try that catalog that Don C alway brings up as a source, but I can't remember the name. But another AZ one will get you through till you can get a good one. Quote

randroid Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 47heaven, I would think the spring you bought was too light. The one on Pigiron is quite heavy and wouldn't break if the car got T-Boned, although it's attached to the frame by yards of baling wire. I believe there's a metal strap that's supposed to attach it to the frame but I don't know for sure. I'd seriously go for a heavier spring. -Randy Quote

McMaster Carr has a good selection where you should be able to find a replacement. Quote

I want to be able to push in the clutch without pulling my calf muscle...LOL! Quote
