but..not on the old cars..the house is almost finished..little trim paint here and there and put away the tools.

both the wife's van and mine were in need of front brakes plus it was time to do oil and filter change..while I had it on the lift I installed a receiver hitch on my van..

I have a few more things to do to the daily drivers once I get the inside of the house totally finished and then I can hopefully get back to the 'hobby cars"

Tim,

I feel your pain of not being able to wrench on the 'hobby cars' when you want to because I often find myself in the same situation, but eventually I'll also feel your pride of completing priorities in the necessary order.

Yes, I've been there too. A project comes along and all you can do is look at your car when you go in the garage to get paint or some tool not related to the old car. For me it's been a basement remodel, an upstairs bathroom overhaul, a fuel pump on my truck, intake manifold gasket on my daughter's car, countless oil changes, tire rotations, mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, redoing the front porch, and on and on and on.

But still, I will never live in a condo.

I can really identify with that because that's what I spend 90% of my time doing. Haven't touched my 42 Dodge or my 48 Plymouth in a couple of months now,and haven't even had a chance to put the brakes back on my 31 Plymouth. I spend all my time stripping parts cars to sell parts to get the money to pay bills, work on my house, and work on the shop. If I'm not doing that I'm cutting grass or working on the house or the shop.

I just bought a new industrial 2 stage air compressor last week with the money from some parts I sold, and it is now sitting in the middle of my shop floor waiting for me to get somebody to help me run a 100 amp service line from the house to the shop so I can wire it up. Not to mention wire up receptacles and overhead lights on that side of the shop and piping for the air lines.

Since it's raining all day today,I will go out into the shop and clean it up a little and try to organize it so I will have the room to move around and wire it maybe next week. Really looking forward to getting this done so I can run my blast cabinet and air tools. The arthritis in my hands is making it tough to do a lot of stuff by hand now. Especially repetitive stuff.

Not that I will be able to start doing body work or blasting rusty parts anytime soon. Once I get the wiring done I have to paint the house.

It's always something.

Then again,it's better to have too much to do than not have anything at all to do.

But still, I will never live in a condo.

I saw THE perfect house for sale on the internet last night. It's in Yakima,Washington, and it is a big house with only 1 bedroom and 1 bath.

What it DOES have is 3 garages. These garages are not attached. They are a part of the house where I guess the other bedrooms would have gone. Two look to be regular "parking/household crap" storage garages, and the other one is a big pretty nice workshop with solid benches, cabinets, shelves, etc, etc, etc.

The house is even on a corner lot,so the big garage is on a different side of the house than the two smaller ones.

AND......it is on a two acre lot,so there is plenty of room to build another nice workshop in the back yard.

The funny thing about that is you will get NO woman who wants to buy that house. The men will be going wild over it but the women will know what's up. I would LOVE to have a house like that. I agree with you, knuckle. It's better to have all those plans in front of you. That's the good life. All those plans and the house in Yakima is the great life, but the good life is nothing to sneeze at, either.

when I sold my house in SC I had a 44 x 30 work shop in the back complete with paint booth..the real estate agent said this will be a drawback to selling the house..I told her she was wrong..people will buy the shop first..the house second...

a woman who was deep into arts and crafts bought the house for the shop first but loved the house also with fresh painted nailhole free walls and hardwood floors..my only draw back was the single bath..

sad part is the couple split, the house went empty, the shop vandalized..and they cut the Susquehanna white water birches I had out front..oh well..sad but no longer mine..

Hey now, I don't know what kind of women are up in Washington state, but some of 'us here Southern girls' would very much like that house with the 3 garages, thank you very much ;)... my boyfriend on the other hand would freak if I suggested it - he keeps telling me that fixing things is what the yellowpages are for LOL... I'm on the fence if I'm going to keep him or not +giggles+

Besides, with two acres I could put an addition for the kids' bedrooms if I ever have any... and I'd have an excuse to stick visiting family in a hotel... not to mention ample space to store my guns, sewing projects, and craftsy stuff.

If that house was in GA, I'd be all over it ;)
