1949dodge Posted August 21, 2009 Author Report Posted August 21, 2009 Thought you had a semi automatic??? I bought a p18 engine to put into the ol dodge, So to make things easy i will switch it over to a standard shift. due to the cranks being un-alike. Quote
Troganin Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 I think I got the pressure plate and disk from andy b. Quote
38plymouth Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 I just ordered mine from Rochester clutch and brake in Rochester NY. I didn't get it yet so I can't comment on quality. They had better prices than Andy B and they have been building them for 60 or 70 years. Check their website, I called and emailed and they were great to deal with. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 clutch kit;PRESSURE PLATE CLUTCH DISC THROW OUT BEARING. Good luck on finding a "kit" for cars of our vintage. Tennessee Clutch and Supply will rebuild your pressure plate and disc at a very fair price. I think i paid less than a hundred bucks and they also do mail order work. You failed to mention a pilot bushing but they also can supply you with a new one. You can find a throw-out bearing at any good bearing house part number 1505. However the new ones have a UHMW bushing as opposed to the original brass bushing and I did not have any luck using one. I switched back to an original. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 We have a local clutch repair shop who can surface a flywheel and rebuild clutches. Quote
1949dodge Posted August 21, 2009 Author Report Posted August 21, 2009 thats all good but.... I dont have the pressure plate, disc or bearing. the crank does have the pilot bearing in there already. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 thats all good but.... I dont have the pressure plate, disc or bearing. the crank does have the pilot bearing in there already. Did you aquire the car disassembled? Contact the link I gave you above and see if they can help. You should consider replacing the pilot bushing as long as you have it this far apart. Quote
greg g Posted August 21, 2009 Report Posted August 21, 2009 Kanter shows new ones (just googled 1948 Dodge clutch cover and it popped right up) a further search of their catalog shows friction disc, pilot bushing and throwout bearing. Quote
