greg g Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 anybody know the source of this engine?? Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Looks like an old ford- 40's early 50's? Quote
james curl Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 I agree, old Ford I6 flatheads look almost like MoPar I6 except they have the starter on the right side of the engine. Also the engine mounts are on the sides in front, not on the front like MoPar's. I also think the bellhousing is stamped steel and not cast iron and does not have the rear mounts on it. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 It's probably a 226 ci. The inboard bendix starter and bell housing it mates to, thats the 1st thing I noticed-typical on most all old fords-they always looked odd. Quote
greg g Posted August 2, 2009 Author Report Posted August 2, 2009 Is labled as a Ford Truck engine. Looks like an offy intake, headers are pretty nice looking. Quote
james curl Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 It is a very nice looking engine but mother MoPar had a better design, the starter is not under or in the exhaust but on the other side. We had a Ford Granada with 200 cu in I 6 and the starter went bad, The book said to remove the engine or remove all of the exhaust and the crossmember. I studied it for two days trying to figure how to get to the top bolt. Finally took all of my long extensions with a wobble joint in the middle and a socket wobble joint and feed it back from the front of the engine to get it out. Quote
