Dodgefran Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 I hope someone can help me identify this engine. I bought a Chrysler flathead six Industrial engine for parts. It was used a year ago on either a water pump at the bogs, or an electrical generator. It still has the Governor on it. The numbers are II9-I056. The beginning of the flat area is worn away and there is just the numbers. I'll be using parts for my 38 DeSoto engine. Thank you. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 Take a look here: http://www.t137.com/registry/help/engine/engine.htm and here: http://http://www.t137.com/registry/help/otherengines/otherengines.php Quote
greg g Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Pull the little pipe plug in the head over ylinder # 6 and rotate the engine with a piece of stiff wire down the hole (about 7 inches long) and you can measure the stroke, with the stroke you can determine the displacement 4 1/2 is a 251, and 4 3/4 is a 265. Dodgefran Posted June 27, 2009 Author Report Posted June 27, 2009 Thank you for your help. I forgot to include the engine casting number with my first thread. 870728-7 I hope that this helps. The I.D. engine number has no regular beginning such as a T, C, S, or IND. It is definately an industrial engine though. I'll test the strike as soon as the rain lets up. Quote
