John Mulders Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 Amazingly I found the right size tire at the first tire shop Explained that the rims were freshly painted, they were a bit worried to damage the paint but we tried one and when done carefully it goes ok. Good thing is that the whitewall is wider than the original. I put the wheels on to see how it looks. It is bright but I guess with the baby moon and standing on the wheels it will be nice especially if the interior shows the same color. So now I can work on the dash ! John Quote
Guest Nile Limbaugh Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 John, are those 15 or 16 inch? If 16 are they stock? If so what size? Radial? Quote
greg g Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 John, Looks like thing sre coming together well in spite of some small setbacks. You might consider a set of trim rings for your wheels also. These just snap in I got these at a show for about 20.00 a piece, they are available on the net from various wheel, trim sources, here is one with free shipping. http://www.hubcapzone.com/trimrings.htm Quote
John Mulders Posted January 20, 2007 Author Report Posted January 20, 2007 They are, as far as I can tell stock. I have no changes to the rear and use the same drums to install the wheels on(brakes) but have changed the front to discbrakes (Charlies setup) but no need to change the rims. Size of the tires is P205 / 75 R15 and are radials So now the question is: is the R15 indicating 15 inch? The diameter of the rim is 42 cm (equals 16.5 inch). Not an expert in this ! John Quote
greg g Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 yep the 15 refers to the diameter of the hole in the tire, this corresponds to the diameter of the part of the wheel where the tire mounts, not the outside diameter of the wheel rim. Quote
captden29 Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 john, the heck with everything else, i only wish i could still bend my knees like you do. dennis Quote
John Mulders Posted January 20, 2007 Author Report Posted January 20, 2007 Shel, that is the good part of living in the Caribbean. Temperature are nice, especially now, although the water is freezing (77 Fahrenheit), that seems warm for you but for us that feels very cold... Done the clutch change in 1979 with a Triumph Spitfire in the Netherlands (that was a cold winter for Dutch standards) and I wasn't too happy on the concrete floor and I was way younger then! Dennis, that is my brother in law. But I can do that as well, couple of years back I had a knee problem playing basketball but that is now back to normal. When I bent down like that my knees will make all kind of sounds... John Quote
