Young Ed Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 As I type my car is in the shop for the second attempt at an alignment this spring. 13 days until we leave for WI. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 Hope it works out OK, Ed. Wonder if that tree knocked the brown coupe out of alignment. It did cause the right rear tire to go flat. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 4, 2009 Author Report Posted June 4, 2009 It certainly knocked parts of it out of alignment Bob. Mine I suspect got out of wack from the crash and then now its got new king pins, new(used) uprights, and 1 new tie rod end. Quote

Young Ed Posted June 4, 2009 Author Report Posted June 4, 2009 update! Spot passed her tests. Only issue they had is the steering gear has some play in it. Which I knew already. Otherwise she's lined up and ready to go. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 Now, we can "see Spot run". Has anybody ever tried to remove shims from the steering box to tighten things up?? If so, how did it work?? Quote
55 Fargo Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Good News Ed, hope al is well with your trip to Wiscansin Quote
Young Ed Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 Well my Dads car still doesn't have the front wheels back under it. He took the 69 in for an alignment before we went and his front end was worn out too. He's doing the whole works. All 4 ball joints tie rod ends pitman arm all control arm bushings etc. We started that Monday night and should finish tonight. Need to install 1 more shock and the new inner tie rod end(we got one defective one) and I think just repack the bearings and we're done. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 Umbrella? We havent had rain in a while. We are really behind schedule on water. Are you guys getting it all? I'll be prepared for it either way. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 Its been cool here too. I love it. Perfect working weather. I've been working about 3 hours everynight this week on Dads 69. Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 The weather in Tennessee has been in the 80-90 range every day this week. I flew into Philidelphia this morning and it is 50 and raining. I did not bring a coat with me as I expected warm spring weather. I am not impressed with Philly. It is a dirty town. Downtown Chicago was much cleaner than downtown Philly. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 Don I take it you won't be in WI at the national? Philly doesnt surprise me I've heard some stories about it Quote
Don Coatney Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 I sure was in the Cleveland area in the early 70's. My ex was attending Kent State (4 dead in Ohio) at that time. It was rumored that there was a chemical salesman on every corner in Cleveland operating out of a phone booth as Cleveland was and I believe still is the chemical manufacturing capitol of the world. Don Coatney Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Don I take it you won't be in WI at the national? Philly doesnt surprise me I've heard some stories about it I leave here next Friday for a week in Kansas City, MO. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Good BBQ and good Blues music all over KC, Don. You need to look up B.B.'s Lawnside Barbeque just off 85th & Holmes. Also Arthur Bryant's BBQ......original in downtown area plus some newer satellite locations around the city. Link to website for the Kansas City Blues Society...http://www.kcbluessociety.com/ And, there is a place called Wierd Stuff Antiques.......this fuzz covered old Caddy sits in front. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 7, 2009 Author Report Posted June 7, 2009 OK back on topic. Saturday I decided I couldn't make my own buffer stand for the 29.99 they wanted for one at harbor frieght. So I went to get one. The more deluxe heavy duty one was on sale for $5 more at 34.99. So I was going to get one of those. They couldn't find both boxes for the new one so I ended up with the display model for $20. SCORE I've got 5 of the eight big grill pieces all buffed and ready to install. 3 more to go then onto little pieces. If anyone has a center cap for the middle 2 bars I could use one. I have 2 but one is pretty trashed. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 8, 2009 Author Report Posted June 8, 2009 Heres a pic of the stand with buffer attached. I did have to drill 2 mounting holes in it but the cheap china steel drilled easily. Also picture of the 2 lowest grill bars after repairing 4 of the studs. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 8, 2009 Author Report Posted June 8, 2009 Yup T5 Don. One of the newer ones with the elec speedo hookup. Will be good for mockup at least. I have another manual speedo gear one coming. Quote
