dirty dan Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 Notice anything missing? How tall is the rubber bumper that attaches underneath the upper shock stud? I'm curious, because when I jack under the lower control arm, I'm not getting much clearance before the car begins rising off of the jackstand. Quote
dezeldoc Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 The rebound bumper is about 2 1/2"-3" tall. Quote

I had that trouble as well trying to install the springs in my Chrysler. I had to lay the engine over the frame (attached to the engine stand) and pile a buch of heavy parts on the frame to get the jack to lift the lower control arm into position to attach it before the frame started to lift off the jack stands. I guess I need to find a fat woman to sit on my engine while I jack under the lower control arm. I wonder how much clearance I could get with a spring compressor? Quote

james curl Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Pat, next time loop a chain over the frame and hook it together with a long enough loop to place your floor jack on top of the chain between the frame and under the A frame. Just jack the jack up, with the chain under the jack and around the frame will prevent the frame from raising as you jack the A frame up. Quote
