Noob Hello and Q

Hi guys, I am considering picking up a '48 but only if I can get it to a daily driver state. I'm in Canada so aside from some heavy undercoating, and auxiliary heat and maybe A/C (yes we need BOTH) I need to address drivability.

From what I've gathered, with gearing and engine being somewhat stock I should anticipate a cruising speed of 55 to 65 mph. Realistically I need to improve upon that while retaining the longevity of the motor.

With that in mind a transplant is likely. I'd like to keep the swap as painless as possible so I'm HOPING to leave the firewall intact.

Of course the info is out there somewhere, and searchable but so far eludes me, so if someone wouldn't mind saving me hours of surfing, I'd love to start my search for an engine using the dimensions of the stock 6.

By the way for anyone interested my first choice would be diesel...

Thanks in advance, Jason

Jason, you should make use of the regular part of the forum, this section is for tech tips and repair tricks that folks come up with.

Also if you haven't read the information on the main page of the site that hosts this forum. Take a look, lots of good info there.

Welcome aboard

Thanks for the replies, as the truck is not in my possession yet, or even in Canada yet, I don't don't know what ratio is in the rear end.

Considering OD is a certainty if a engine swap turns out to be inevitable. Again, all this is hinging on what my options are for a successful engine/tranny swap.

I'll move this to the proper forum shortly, thanks again.
