Well, I need some of the expert advice offered here. I have a pair of carter/weber 2bbl's on my engine. The engine has been runnung for sometime now but the car itself is not quite roadworthy. So all i have done was start and run the car for short periods. Last week I went to start the car and it ran very rough. I thoought maybe let it warm up more when I noticed gas dripping out of the rear carb. I stopped the motor and removed the air cleaner and both venturi had about an inch of gas in them and they where both still dripping gas in the venturi. I opened the throttle and everything stopped. I checked for anything loose but nothing. I started it again, the same thing, then I noticed gas dripping out of the tail pipe.

I don't know much about the inner workings of carbs, so i email Tom Langdon, still no reply.

So can anyone offer some advice or suggestions?

Thanks.

you have a piece of trash between the needle and seat of the carb inlet OR you have a float with a pin hole full of gas that is not rising and shutting of the fuel..DO correct this situation..the exhaust could get a good size explosion resulting in damage...disable the ignition and pull the plugs..turn over the engine with a rag over the plug holes to prevent fuel spray..let the cylinder air out..you may have splash fouled the plugs and will need clean also...do get a UNISYNC tool to balance your carb linkage for smooth run and even acceleration...

Thanks Tim & Don:

I will follow Tims good advice and as of this morning no word out of Tom. I will not call him for advice as the last time I called he blew me off without even an attempt to help me.

I will let you know what I find.

Thanks again

Putting Tom aside for the moment what is the general feeling on how well the CW`s work? How many guys on this forum are using them and are you happy with them. I bought a set to put on my 265, just curious as to any problems with them.......Thanks Lee

I have a set from Langdon's and have had absolutely zero problems with mine. Straight out of the box onto the engine. Very happy with mine.

I also have a set of CW's on my car; I took them out of the box, bolted them to the adapters, connected the fuel lines, ran power to the electric chokes, and started the car up. I haven't touched them since.

I was able to take the carb off this last weekend. I opened it up and everything looked good. I went ahead and cleaned it up anyway. I checked the float at it was okay. I checked the clearences and they where fine. After a good going over i put it back together and it worked just fine. So it must have been a very small piece of trash I guess.

Thanks again guys, I really didn't know where to start on this.

odds are in handling the carb and such you dislodged the piece of trash..which is a good thing but I know you are like myself..want to see with my eyes the culprit behind the aggrivation

Do you have a good inline filter on your system?

I do have an inline filter and yes Tim you are right I like to see the problem then fix it, that way I'm sure. I am happy it is working again however.

I suspect that some trash got in through the bowl vents which are right on the top when I had the air cleaner off.

I still have not heard back from Langdon. I guess service after the sale is not his thing.
