Normspeed Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 No, not the Pontiac, Someone gave me this tee shirt a while back, has anyone ever seen this car? Looks sort of Mopar. Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 It is a 1955 Chevrolet - Barris Custom Dennis:cool: Quote
greg g Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Man you're Johnny on the Spot. I was just gonna say that the windshield frame and vent windows looked GM. Quote
RobertKB Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Don't much like it. Much prefer a '55 Chev stock looking. This one is way too tricked out for me and the front end is trying to look like a '58 Ford. Never was a big Barris fan to begin with. Just call me Mr. Grumpy Pants 'cause I like 'em stock! Quote
Normspeed Posted January 16, 2007 Author Report Posted January 16, 2007 Seems like a sad end to a 55. I'm surprised I don't recall seeing it before, I was a big car magazine reader in the 50's and 60's. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 It is a 1955 Chevrolet - Barris Custom Dennis:cool: What a waste of a nice car. I like customs, but to do something like that with a 55 Chevy should be against the law. Quote
Normspeed Posted January 16, 2007 Author Report Posted January 16, 2007 Dennis' photo is great. I can see the Barris look, and I guess as a vintage almost historic custom I'm glad someone preserved it. Paint is beautiful. Having once owned a 55 Belair 2 door hardtop, I'd rather see it stock bodied. I think I'll use the tee shirt for polishing cloths. Quote
PatS.... Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 I think that car was brand new when it went under the knife. This type and worse was very popular in the 50' and 60's. Some were well done, but most, like this one, were pretty gaudy. Some of the chopped and channelled Mercs were beautiful. I liked the R&C Chevy pick-up as well. Quote

That's what I do with all T Shirts that have pictures or writing on them. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Now, Norm(speed), there may be some ebayer just searching for that vintage kustom kar T shirt from the 50s. Might be worth a couple bucks. Those full custom cars from the era were pretty futuristic and far out. There were quite a few of those done by various shops then. I thought some were neat and some were kinda ooogly. To show how old I am, we used to read those small size custom magazines at the drug store after school in the 50s. Of course, we just read them and put 'em back on the rack....didn't buy very many of them. Quote
