47heaven Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 The other day I was laying in bed thinking about trying something that I saw on a 1941 Chevrolet that I thought would look good on a P15 and that was a strip of red in the miidle of the stainless trim along the sides of the car. So I bought some pin strip and went to work. When I was done, I was impressed on how much it really looked like it was meant to be on the car and how it complimented the "special deluxe" script on the side of the hood and the hub caps. I know it's not "original," I think it's period correct. Anyway, here are some pics of it so I can get your opinions and thoughts. It's too bad the stainless wasn't embossed so that the strip could be painted in on it. First the '41 Chevy Now the P15 version: PS: Yeah, I know the hood needs to be aligned and straightened. Quote
wldavis3 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 47, I like it a lot. Like you said -- too bad that Plymouth did put an indentation in that stainless for such a stripe. Now, what would a little striping look like on the grille? Do you have any plans for such? Thanks for the photos. Quote
greg g Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Like the stripe. I was thinking of adding one under the stainless. Not being critical but I would not have chosen a red stripe on a green car. Does set it off nicely though. Quote
John Mulders Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Think the stripes look good, don't think I would like them on the grille (like the chevy). John Quote
40plyguy Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 I like the light green color on your car. Would you happen to know the paint code for it. I have a '40 Ply. in a little darker green that needs to be repainted and I think it would look good in the lighter shade. Thanks Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Looks pretty good on the side trim. I think you put it in the best place. I don't think it would look so hot on the grille. In fact, I think maybe the Chevy grille paint is a bit too bright a shade, or something. Not sure the red stood out quite that much when new... if indeed, it even had red when new. Looked up 41 Chevy on Carnut.com......found this pic. This car was just featured in Cars & Parts magazine. It has a list of 50 options on it, or with it.....some really rare today. It may have some red in the grille......but if so, is more subdued than the green car. Quote
Aussie D25 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 I aim to do the same with my ride .... high gloss black with red enamel pin striping in the chrome work. I should do what Chip Foose does and draw out my ideas for the mild custom job I have set for the Dodge. Quote
