Don Jordan Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 I don't know what I expected - I had the front and rear bumpers re chromed for $300 each. I guess it seemed acceptable. I went to another place today with the stop light (from the trunk) chrome piece. Just to check about re chroming it. He quoted me $300!!!! I think I may shop around. I have one I got off the bay and I got another one with mega pits. Three hundred. A little excessive. Quote
David Maxwell Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 that place Don was talking about (Tech... something). Close to $200, but it would be in perfect condition. Even the best chrome shops never get those brake light bezels right. I had five of them rechromed and they messed up every one of them. Finally found a NOS one. Plymouthy Adams Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 chrome is expensive..shops are far and few between..you may say they have you by the short hairs before you even get there...pot metal/cast pieces are always a fit for the things are mostly pitted..most shops do a sand off of pits and lose the shape and detail of the item and most likely in Maxwell's case..the piece is just not quite the same afterwards..in absence of finding a really nice original or NOS, the Technaglia reproduction piece is a very good looking example. Now if you be going total resto for points this is not an option, but for the guy who has a driver and still wants the best he can get..for the money..its a no-brainer... Quote
