Does anyone out there know where to find the plastic inserts that go behind the center hub cap. I have the original 1948 white plastic ones but they are cracked up and missing pieces. I have found the chrome ones are around but I was wondering if the plastic ones are as well.

I thought most of the original white wheel rings were metal.

They appear from time to time on ebay, and at swap meets.

You just need to know exactly which type you need.....as they

were made for various makes of vehicles.

...and several companies made metal ones including Lyon. I have a set of the Lyons which I like because they had nice pin-striping on them. I also have a set of the original Mopar plastic ones. These still have the instructions for mounting and cleaning on them.

...and I'm thinking I probably should sell them. I was keeping them for a spare to use on second set of rims that I was going to mount black-wall radials on. Since then, I've purchased wide white radials and therefore don't really need them. You should know that they have yellowed over the past 60+ years. They were never mounted on a car, but you can't keep these old pre-additive plastics from yellowing. Can't recall what I paid for them. If you want to research it and make me a reasonable offer (I'm not trying to make a killing on them or I would put them on ebay), that would be fine.

Don't suppose you would be interested in parting with the plastic ones?

Got so wrapped up in a multitude of things that I forgot all about this. I'm posting a note on my PC screen to get those out when I get home from work tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

Mr Maxwell,

I have been trying to contact you are we going to finalize this deal or not.

Money is growing mold - and will be used elsewhere.
