BobT-47P15 Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 At a yard near Baxter Springs, KS they have this Ford former Railway Express truck. The original color would have been green and black, with a silver top. Probably could be purchased if anyone is interested. I think this one is a 48 Chevy. And a couple of old Ford cab-overs needing a lot of work. At a different place, the fellow had recently purchased this "one-off" 47 Chevy four door convertible. Quote
Frank Elder Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 The ford looks Union Pacific yellow to me. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 29, 2008 Author Report Posted December 29, 2008 Could be U P......but, in this neck of the woods, it may have been owned by some construction company. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 that place should have a condemned sign on the front easement... Quote
48mirage Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 This is my cousin's yard. It's been there probably longer than any member of this forum has been breathing. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 Jim, I will say the place is a little bit rough around the edges. But....it's a salvage yard, what does one expect?? Your cousin probably has more 1940 Fords in his collection than most people......I think he said he has 30-some vehicles, all 1940s. Said he just finished up his convertible recently. He was helpful with info and let us drive around to look at things. Nice guy. As things have happened recently, it's now kinda tough to be in the salvage business with prices down to about $25 per ton from around $250 per ton. Quote
