Alright, the 47 is starting to come back to life, thanks to everyon on my recent dash questions, the new chrome and wood graining will look great. NOW to the hubcaps, I had the orginals redone, about the same price as finding new/old. On the 47 caps it has the PLymouth lettering ans the crest of the ship. What parts are painted and what colors? Happy new year to everyone. Mark

Here's a picture of a hubcap I bought off of Ebay. I painted the ship and the letters with testors model paint enamel from Walmart. Pretty close to the original color, but probably not original. It holds up well and is fairly easy to put on with a small brush.

I think the indented line that goes around the center was painted red as well, but I just left it like it was.

I'm interested in that woodgraining. I've been looking at web sites and tools, materials, etc. with an eye toward doing it myself. As they say, Mopar had to come up with a system that the average worker off the street could do properly. It sounds pretty straight forward. Did you do yours yourself?

Just finished painting my caps. Taped them, then cut out what I wanted to paint, painted, waited a day and removed tape. Used a chrome / stainless cleaner first. Cleaned and buffed five or six times to get them to shine.

Good luck.

From what I have been told, the ring around the logo is not to be painted. And I used the model paint red that was mentioned. Small brush and a free evening gets the job done. Don’t worry about going out side the lines since you can have some mineral spirits at hand and wipe off the excess with a cloth.

Plymouth used red on the hood and trunk logo, and the Special Deluxe or Deluxe name plates on the cowl.

If you have a Special Deluxe, you’ll need to find the 10” caps. Deluxe models came with the 9” caps.
