Falcon(63) Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 52 PH. Door opens with the inside handle, but won't with the outside handle. Spring? Thanks Quote
MBF Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 If its the passenger side is the locking mechanism jammed (keylock)? Quote
pflaming Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Mine is the same, opens from the inside, not from the outside, passenger door. I thought maybe it was locked, but shouldn't it automatically unlock when opened from the inside. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 I had one of my replacement doors that had the latch still in it. It had the same problem. Upon removing the latch assembly I found that there was some excessive wear in the latch mechanism where the outer handle link acts on the latch. You could turn the handle as far as it would go, but it wouldn't pull the latch back fully. My original latch assembly was still OK so I put that one in. If the outer handle won't turn, then the lock may be in the locked position. If that's the case will need to get it unlocked. It won't automatically unlock by opening it up from the inside. If the outer handle turns but it won't unlatch, remove the latch mechanism and check it for wear. Merle Quote
Falcon(63) Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 It is the drivers door. As Merle said, it is probably wear. Thanks Quote
pflaming Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 My driver's side works fine, it is the passenger side and the handle will NOT move. So. . . it may be locked. Truck did not come with a key. . . locksmith I guess. Quote
carl b51 Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 I just repaired a latch that opened fine from the inside But would not open from the out side a little welding and a file. As for one that the out side handle will not turn take out the lock assemble and unlock the door with a screw driver. Quote
