Robin (UK) Posted November 9, 2008 Author Report Posted November 9, 2008 As a foreigner, I have watched the US elections with great interest..... Congratulations to you all.... Guys, This was meant to be a feel-good message to a great bunch of internet friends. It's the cars that bond us, not necessarily our views on domestic or world politics. Sorry it's stirred up a bit of a hornet's nest of opinions. Maybe I should tell you that I'm going to paint my convertible in day-glo green and fit a SBC and 24" chrome gangsta wheels. That might change the face of this debate. :) :) :) Quote
Don Coatney Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 I'm going to paint my convertible in day-glo green Robin; I was trying to picture the color "day glow green" so I googled it. I found this link and spent the last 4 hours watching it. http://revver.com/video/128989/day-glow-green-bikini-from-the-80s/ Quote
Robin (UK) Posted November 9, 2008 Author Report Posted November 9, 2008 Yes, that's it.... and because it's a convertible, I get to take the top down on a sunny day!!! Quote
dirty dan Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 That's much easier said than done if you have no savings, no car, family to feed, etc. The more money someone has, the more they can afford to give back, i.e. pay taxes. Right now we need an influx of money to jump-start the economy and alternative energy projects. Many corporations and oil companies are acting out of pure selfishness and self-preservation; Andrew Carnegie they are not. America was at its best when we had a thriving middle class. Under Bush, the gap between the rich and poor has only grown and the middle class has suffered. I'm not saying it's Bush's fault entirely but his administration has consistently been blind or slow to respond to problems, and the list of mistakes is long (Katrina, Iraq, Guantanimo, bin Laden, budget overspending, etc.) Corporations and oil companies don't pay taxes Curtis. They pass the costs on to you. When my property taxes increase on my rental properties, I don't eat that increase, my renter's do. It sounds real good coming from the politicians, but a tax increase on business is a tax increase that you're paying. Quote
falconvan Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Even though I'm a lifelong Republican and voted for McCain. I'm willing to give our new President the benefit of the doubt based on his performance. There's been enough polarizing and fighting amoungst our two parties and look where it's gotten us. Mr Obama, I'm keeping an open mind. Prove to me that you've got the answers and I'll give you whatever credit you earn. Quote
