Young Ed Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 All the 49 plymouth converts I've seen had 2 seats. Dodge did have the smaller conv they called a roadster with only 1 seat. Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Bill, I looked up the Branson spring & fall 2008 auctions and did not see any 49 Plymouth listed. When was the sale you saw? Can you send a link to the ad? There was a dark red 49 convert in a little showroom at Ozark, MO on Hwy 65, which is a few miles north of Branson. On my last trip by the showroom a few weeks ago, I noticed that the convert was no longer sitting there. No idea where it went. It was a normal, standard looking convert. Appeared in pretty good condition. Quote
Furylee2 Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 Canadian Dodge (Plymouth body?) no back seat I saw one of these for sale at Hershey last week. It was in one of the red fields. Quote
Normspeed Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Wow, I like that a lot! The long trunk makes it look sleek. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Wonder if that's a Wayfarer. Or in the better line..... Here's an American Wayfarer. Quote
B-Watson Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Canadian Dodge (Plymouth body?) no back seat That's an American-built 1949 or 1950 Dodge Wayfarer. Note the nameplate on the side with a spot on the lower edge for "Fluid Drive". No Chrysler Corporation convertibles were built in Canada from 1937 through to 1962. And neither were Dodge Wayfarers of any model. Bill Vancouver, BC Quote
Phil Martin Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Just came back from Branson that red 49 convert is back in the showroom on 65 Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Hmmm.....interesting. Wonder where it went for a brief while. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Knowing a few guys with used car lots there's usually only 2 places cars go to disappear. Either the car sat there so long that something broke so it went out to a shop to get repaired or it sat there so long the owners sent it out to a shop to have something improved in the hopes of making a sale. The one lot around here had a white 97-03ish dakota. It was there forever! Finally they sent it out and had the white paint accented with some red touches. I thought it was hideous but it sold shortly after that. Quote
