I agree with Don. Once the head is off you can see what's going on. That said, a service manual and parts manual is always a good item to have around. They publish reprints of just about any old car/truck you want. Try Crankin Hope (link in main site link page), they should have at least the service manual, and that will give you the specs you're looking for.

U are right DON .. i`m just curious about this swapping deal ,,,, i doubt i will go that way but just wanting to know now, that i`ve explored some different possibilities .I know it can be done , but it is a lot of work switching everything around or cutting cross members . ..... actually i did take the head off last summer and had it machined and put a new head gasket on it , didn`t help .. the engine at least probably needs rings & a valve job & probably a rebuild ... after all this figuring i think the easiest& cheapest thing to do is just take the rebuilt 230 out of my PLY. WOODIE WAGON and put that in the 50 DODGE CONVERTIBLE & and put the rebuilt 218 i`ve got in the WOODIE ... I can pull the engine & trans out of my 52 DODGE and save it for my 49 WAYFARER CONVERTIBLE and be done with it ...maybe somebody will come along and want that 52 Dodge Wayfarer Coupe body !! i still have a great running 1950 Plymouth engine settiing around i guess i just need to sell that one . The main problem just to many damn cars !! AGAIN THANX FOR THE INPUT ...
