Vintrader Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 I came across this picture of a 1950 Truck awhile back, thought I would post it. Like it or not you have to give them a tumbs up for creativity? Dutch Quote
jamesadams Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 I kinda like it. Both the old and the new. Now, do you think my wife would miss the grille in her 2001 sport? Quote
52B3B108 Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 That is a good fit and I think tastefully done. Quote
Bob_Koch Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 Anybody know what year and make that grille would have come from. I've looked at many a dakota truck, but the grilles are all slightly different. Quote
PatS.... Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 Looks like a full size Ram truck grille to me. Looks right at home on the Pilothouse. Quote
Guest Dave Claussen Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 Always wondered what a pilothouse would look like with a modern grille. Nice touch. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 I remember seeing that one a while ago too. I thought it fit and looked good. Quote
grey beard Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 And how about that one-piece windshield - likely two pieces of blass ground to fit tightly with no divider Far out . . . Quote
Bob_Koch Posted December 26, 2006 Report Posted December 26, 2006 Steele Rubber lists a windshield gasket with no middle divider for our trucks Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 And how about that one-piece windshield - likely two pieces of blass ground to fit tightly with no divider Far out . . . Look again Dave. There is a center divider bar. And in the upper corner of the passenger side glass is written "1950 Dodge" Also looks like "For Sale" with something else in the rear window. And who was asking a while back about clip on mirrors for the trucks? It has one on the drivers door. Quote
52B3B108 Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 Also looks like "For Sale" with something else in the rear window. And who was asking a while back about clip on mirrors for the trucks? It has one on the drivers door. I was asking a while ago if anyone had the clip on mirrors and if they could see very well out of them, especially the passenger side one. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted December 27, 2006 Report Posted December 27, 2006 I was asking a while ago if anyone had the clip on mirrors and if they could see very well out of them, especially the passenger side one. Well I guess this still doesn't answer your question then, does it. Quote
Vintrader Posted December 27, 2006 Author Report Posted December 27, 2006 David, I have had a few trucks with the so called Peep Mirrors. I had to remove them, Just did not feel safe to me. Maybe I am just getting Old and Blind. It looks like you have the same 5 x 7 mirror on your green 52 as I have now. Do you need one for the right side or are you thinkong of switching to the smaller size? Dutch Quote
Guest jtw3749c Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Anybody ever figure out what year and size Dodge truck the grill came from? JT Quote
48WingNut Posted December 31, 2006 Report Posted December 31, 2006 I'm guessing that it is from a full size dodge. Ram emblem is in the grill. Dakota's ram head was on the hood. Not sure what year though. Guessing pre '02. Quote
Guest jtw3749c Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 I did some searching and haven't found it yet. I don't and never have has a proper grill for mine and thought that one looked pretty darn good. Would like to try that myself. JT Quote
Vintrader Posted January 2, 2007 Author Report Posted January 2, 2007 OK, I started this so we go. Looks like Full Size Dodge Trucks from 94-01 Had this grill type. It was wider, so I am sure it was sectioned for the 50 truck it also has standard perf. metal behind it. But it looks like the same design? What do you think? Dutch Quote
PatS.... Posted January 2, 2007 Report Posted January 2, 2007 Looks right on the money to me. Seems there was a lot of work put into that grille to get it the right size and get it flat. It's the only grille modification I have seen on a Pilothouse that looks like it wasn't a total afterthought. I like it Quote
MBF Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Could it be the smaller version from the Dakota? Mike Quote
Young Ed Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 I'm not sure what that grill is from. The grill on my dakota is plastic so I'm not sure one could cut it apart and get it back to one piece again. Quote
Vintrader Posted January 3, 2007 Author Report Posted January 3, 2007 The only Grill that the emblem is in that spot is the full size trucks. And I think they are all plastic. My 2001 is, even though it looks like chrome. Quote
Guest mikeys toy Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 are these trucks worth anything? a friend of mine has 2-3 of them Quote
Merle Coggins Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 are these trucks worth anything? a friend of mine has 2-3 of them Got any pictures? Where are they located? Quote
Guest mikeys toy Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 NW Oklahoma. He has at least one that looks like the green one above, and in close to that shape. Then he has an older one, I'm guessing early '40s? He has a factory V-8 auto 'Powerflite' ('55?)in pretty good shape. He has a '49ish 1 ton with a spitfire engine, but the frame was cut off behind the cab. I have pics of the '55 and the '49; give me your e-mail and I will send them to you Quote
Young Ed Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 The early 40s one should look like these two. If the headlights are lower towards the grill thats a 39-40. If it looks like my red one but has stainless bars on the lower grill its 41-45 and with no bars 46-47. Quote
