KING-1948 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I was at the junk yard today and came across this Dodge truck. Can anybody help identify it for me. I'm pretty sure it was a Dodge. I was in a hurry and did not think about it anymore till I got home and looked at the pictures. Any help would be great. I'll try to get back and get a few more pics. Don't mind the date! It was taken today. Thanks King Quote
billwillard Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Would think it would be red. Looks like a fire truck. Quote
Tony WestOZ Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Looks to be a 48 to 50 model. Definatly not standard. I saw a truck (Mack I think) on an other site that had a similar rear cab conversion. The front guard wheel arch extensions are wider than standard as well. Probable made by one of the after market truck suppliers for someone. Interesting though. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 It's a 3 to 4 ton heavy series truck. 10 bolt budd wheels. Depending on model it has a 281/306/331 or a 377ci. engine. Never have seen a Dodge cab like that. Maybe an over the roader long haul custom. Quote
PatS.... Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Looks very similar to a ute from OZ. That cab would be worth saving for sure. Or maybe not after seeing the pics below. Seems the rust gods have claimed it as their own. Quote
KING-1948 Posted September 20, 2008 Author Report Posted September 20, 2008 Here are two more pictures. The drivers side is really bad at the bottom. I hope these help. Thanks King Quote
grey beard Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 The Blue Ball, PA fire company has in a back corner of their fire houss a 1955 Maxck B-85 tanker/pumper with the same cab. This one is set up for five men to ride in - no seat at the right side door - that's the pass-thru to the rear three seats. One seat in the middle right in back of the gear shift next to the driver's seat. Sorta corny, but it got the job done. The Mack will be for sale soon as they vote on the motion to get rid of it. Lotsa chrome, and 26,000 miles. Some car hauler that'd make, what? :) Quote
Paul Hoffmeyer Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Hey, guys; What you have here is an early version of an over the road truck tractor with an integral sleeper. Not very roomy back there, not much more than a narrow shelf. Many trucks had sleepers about this size in the late forties and early fifties. This one probably has a 331 or 377 cu in flathead six. 4852dodge Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Where is the truck located? Quote
KING-1948 Posted September 22, 2008 Author Report Posted September 22, 2008 Thanks for the info paul. Truck is in SE PA. Thanks King Quote
OLD DODGE Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I was going through some old literature the other day when I came across this brochure for a sleeper cab. Look familiar? You can even see the panel under the back window. If someone bought that truck I can e-mail a high resolution scan. Kevin Clause Quote
