Bingster Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 I have a couple of cans of Eastwood's Extreme Chassis Black. It is a spray consistency from the can. Boy it's thin. But I guess you have to carefully build coats. Anybody have any experience with it? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 there is relly no real need to build layers is the coverage is good..viscosity for spraying..not always out of the can regardless of label..if you try to spray it..and it sputters or leaves heavy droplets..too thick and will need reduced... Jeff.P_46 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I used it on my firewall and inner fenders and was very happy with it. It went on nice and seems to be pretty tough. Jeff Quote
Arthur1947 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 [/img] I used the spray bomb stuff with good results. If you let it dry and hit it with a second coat the stuff will blister and lift. I'm not sure if that holds true with the paint in the can. Best. ARTHUR Quote
cwcars88 Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 I used the regular chassis black on my model "A" 28 years ago and it still looks good. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Most paint if left to cure will produce a gloss finish that will make re-coating an "iffy" job to say the least. Any finish that is left to dry must have the glaze broke with a very fine grit paper to ensure the new paint will get a grip so to speak. This is the biggest killer of most paint jobs with clear coat and the reason the clear comes off the car is sheets later down the road..no feet..the only car I have ever painted using clear coat I mixed the last two coats 50/50 paint and clear..it is very important never to let a paint job in progress dry beyond just a tack till you are finished. james curl Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Tim is correct about the clear, most base coat/clear coat paints have a time period beyond which you are out of luck. If you apply clear coat too late it will not attach to the base coat properly. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 and that is a very narrow window might I add.. Quote
