Just noticed my status changed on the forum, What are the different amounts of posts and or times, that it takes to go from new member to grand poobaa?

We're moving on up! TO the eastside, to that deluxe garage in the sky!

You would think the status would be confered by the amount of knowledge and or help given, not by how many times you have "chimed in" on a subject.

My grasp of this era car is quite limited, and as greg g would say, I have the theory of some down pat, but have yet to apply it. So if given advice by me, caveat emptor!

In most cases the two go hand in hand in here.

The first four "grand poobas" that jump to my mind (not in any relevent order....and not to minimise anyone not in that four) are Tim Adams...Don Coatney...and the two Norms.

It would be difficult to argue that their knowledge and help given do not put them at the far end of the bell curve.

All that to say that I can't think of anyone who has posted enough to gain the rating but who posts fluff.

I just realized that I turned over 500 posts and it now lists me as a guru. Yeah right. I know some stuff, but I'm no guru. :D

Oh well, it's fun to see the different categories for number of posts. Most forums have them.

It amazes me at the number of posts the Zen masters hav epublished. I know they have a lot of knowledge but do you think there egos are getting stroked by acccumulating extrodainary postings. Sometimes I just make a reply, like now, to get more posting credits. Many times I pass on replying because someone else has said what I would have said. Other times " It is better to remain silent and be considered a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt" A. Lincoln. Historical, Frank
