my flat head ran fine with a jug of gas hanging from the hood. got feul pump working now and it just floods the carb and runs like crap.checked float seems fine .maybe too much fuel pressure? also what are the points set at ,the book says 35 .just dont seem right .

Points are set at .20.....plugs at .35

Maybe your float level is set too high or the needle valve isn't seating all the way.

sounds like the needle valve isnt seating. take out that brass fuel inlet fitting, outside the carb float bowl, the needle sits in there. at first i thought it was a normal fittiing and was going to toss it, but then the little needle dropped out.!!!ooooops! save that one! i bought a whole carb on ebay to get another needle!

Bill you should get 2 needles and seats for the carbs in a rebuild kit. The napa ones I've used come with 2 styles one for the fuel line going directly into the carb and another with external threads for a glass bowl fuel filter

this one had the glass bowl ,but i removed it and ran straight into the carb fitting . the needle valave looks fine ,cannot blow air in reverse direction and the float is set pretty low . could it be to much fuel pressure?

Check your float to make sure its good. Take it out and shake it. My car was doing that flooding thing after sitting last winter. The float had sunk.

Just another (correct answer) reason "young" ED should preside over the POCicon14.gif
