I finally got the rims cleaned up and paintedyesterday....today I put the hubcaps back on...all I really have left to do is let it cure for a week or so and buff it out a little...I am aiming for a paint job that looks about a year old rather than a super shinny one....I did it, I like it....nuthin' else matters...John Burke

Well done! Great job and a nice color for the car. I am about to start painting my 50 Suburban this weekend........I am a little apprehensive about it, but worst case it gets sanded down and done again......I've never done base/clear, but I have a young gun painter hired on to take the lead with me backing him up. Between us I am hopeful of a passable daily driver job.

Lookin good John. I see corn is you neighbor again. Maybe next year you can lobby for sunflowers just to change up the corn and soy bean scenery.

The frame and cab are at a buddys shop, he is welding in foors and some patch panels. I have the bed and three fenders done, and working the hood and the last fender. Maybe next summer.

I truly appreciate anyone who can paint - I tried it with no success. Lots of sanding, painting, sanding, painting. Finally I just gave up and took it to someone to have it done. I'm still waiting. It's not a high priority so whenever things are slow he puts the guys on the Plymouth.

Painting takes patience, skill, time, and patience.

You've done a really good job.

The car looks great John. Like the color.

I'm with Don Jordan though when it comes to painting. Let someone else do it. However, I don't agree with shops that want to do it in their spare time and still charge me the same as everyone else. If I'm paying the going rate, I want it done in the order the shop receives it. That's only fair. The guy that owns the auto service shop near my house bought a 53 Chevy Pickup to restore. Took it into the body shop last October and is still waiting for them to finish it.
