Don Coatney Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I recieved this e-mail pasted below from him today. Hey, tried to get in forum but have lost password and don't have time to hunt it... but found an article you might find interesting. http://www.popularmechanics.com/automotive/how_to/4276846.html?series=19 A lot of folks go on and on about that mileage saver add on people put on cars now days... Popular mechanics did a test on this... and it was as I expected (the results).... LowOiL Haven't watched the forums to see if anyone has been talking about this, but figured if they did this article would be interesting to them. Quote

BobT-47P15 Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 As I recall, LowOil's family had a Mopar auto dealership in years gone by. At one time, maybe even now, they still have the building and what little is left of parts and pieces. Not sure if that is correct info - but may be. Hi Lowell.....long time no hear from you. Stuff on the forum is about the same as it ever was.....guys and gals trying to fix up their old Chrysler products. Bob Quote
Normspeed Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Hi Lowell, welcome back. Once you get to where you've done all the catch up reading you can take, a couple things to make the forum easier to read (at least for me): At the upper right, click on forum tools, then "mark this forum read". That way only the new messages since last visit will be highlighted. Also at the upper right, click on Display Modes, and try the linear mode. Quote

Some rough around the edges, some refined liked wine, some brilliant beyond compare...but like parts of a car, they worked together to make a great product.. most seemed friendly beyond what usually resides on the web... just good honest folks sharing and comparing and having fun... Yeah, this place is special... and you know it don't ya... Quote

Welcome Back. See you solved the password problem by just registering with a different name. I keep all my passwords simple. They are always the same when I type them into some computer. They always look like this **********, now how can I forget that? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Lowell......refresh my memory......was what I said about the dealership, etc anywhere near correct??? Quote
LowOiLer Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 refresh my memory......was what I said about the dealership, etcanywhere near correct??? Yeah, pretty much... Grandpa ran a dealership way back... all that is left is some odds and ends now, most not worth time to identify... I hated ebaying anyway (I don't think I have sold anything for over a year now) and I just enjoy the atmosphere here now... Sorry about rating this thread.. Was just playing with options, didn't know it would display. Forum has lots of bells and whistles now... Welcome Back. See you solved the password problem by just registering with a different name Actually, the main problem was requiring a 8 letter username instead of just the 6 I usually use. So not only had I lost my password, but my user name... I finally took a smart pill I found under the rabbit cage and remembered I had a profile... So was able to find my old user name, but then I couldn't get any of my regular diviations of passwords to work before I timed out (allowed only 5 tries)... Frustrated, I abandoned trying again... Don suggested I email our fearless leader... he kindly reset me which allowed me to reregister. Now I need only to figure out how to delete my old profile name. Maybe I will just leave it... Quote

Not sure but I think only GTK can delete a profile, especially if you don't remember the password for the old profile. Think a lot of us had the same problem with the user name. I was just "Norm" on the old forum. Had to change it to Norm's Coupe to make the name long enough for this format. I'm with you on the ebay thing. I've only had one transaction in the last 12 months. After next month it will be zero. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 Thanks for the welcome gang... Yeah, I always liked the gang that hung out here... Some rough around the edges, some refined liked wine, some brilliant beyond compare... Glad you are back. I liked your LowOil handle better. Low Oiler sounds like you are a bottom feeder:D So you must be describing me with the rough, refined winer, comments:cool: to make the forum easier to read (at least for me): At the upper right, click on forum tools, then "mark this forum read". That way only the new messages since last visit will be highlighted. Also at the upper right, click on Display Modes, and try the linear mode. Other Norm; Try this. Simply click on the link "New Posts" near the center above and ONLY the new postings will be displayed on all forums associated with this web page. Nice thing about this forum is it is programed to remember you and will only display postings you have not read by doing this. They will stay as unread no matter what puter you log on with until you actually read them. If there is a thread you do not have an interst in simply open it and hit the New Posts icon and it will no longer be diaplayed as a new post. I would think this would be much quicker for those of you using antiquated dial up systems. If you do the "mark this forum read" you could miss some postings. Quote
Allan Faust Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 So you must be describing me with the rough, refined winer, comments:cool: Well, it definitely wasn't the brilliant beyond compare, that's fer sure... Allan Quote
