  1. Does anyone know of any published wheel options for the 1946-48 cars? As I was watching a documentary about the reconstruction of Europe filmed just after the war I noticed a business coupe in Italy with wheels painted the same as the original spare wheel of our '48 Town Sedan. I wonder if the red wheel with white pin stripes was common on black cars? Was this a standard color with a standard hub cap & either wide or narrow trim rings optional? Where trim rings standard on any models?
  2. Hey there, I have searched and searched the forums for my question with no luck. I have a 53 1ton dually, I was hoping to keep the axle original and just put new wheels on to remove the "widow makers" but can not find any wheels that are one piece steel, I believe they are 6 on 7.25. So my thought was to do an axle swap with a newer dually axle, maybe a dana 60 plus I would also be able to kill two birds with one stone and upgrade to disc brakes. Does anyone have experience with a dually axle swap or any ideas with the wheels
  3. Got a 1950 Dodge Coronet, 4-door, fluid drive trans, 230 ci engine. Currently I'm riding on Remington G78-15 4-ply polyester tubeless tires on original 15 x 5 wheels. I've been looking at putting radials on my original 15 x 5 wheels. I had just about decided on 225/75R15--but then I looked at this chart and it seems to say 195 is the highest diameter I should go with. I've done so much research that I can't recall now where I got this--but another chart suggested that 215 was acceptable (and then I stepped it up to 225, based on yet another chart that said it was a larger-than-normal tire, but still acceptable). So--I really want to keep my original wheels and I want the largest acceptable tire I can get (without getting any rubbing in the wheel wells, overly screwing up my odometer, etc.). Not interested in doing any modifications to the car--it's a 90+ percent survivor. Thoughts on the best size radial tire for me? Thanks.
  4. Not having much luck with the search engine, so I'm just going to ask. I've added a 1950 Dodge one ton Pilothouse to my little Dodge collection. Its in super good condition, so I'm one lucky guy. It runs and drives as it should now that I have almost mastered double clutching. However, it has split rims and I know of only one place in Oklahoma that still services those and its a bit of a drive. I would like to put factory sized radials on it as the bias are hard as a rock. Is it possible to find more modern wheels that look like the originals?
  5. I am looking into having rims/wheels made to fit my one ton 55'. I have been wanting to get rid of the split ring rims and go tubeless. Nobody seems to have them. People have offered to alter my original rims but we rather keep them for when the truck gets retired. I have contacted manufacturers in China. Have not found any in the states. Anyway they require a minimum quantity order. Understandable they are selling wholesale. I am wondering if anyone else is interested in changing out their rims for a newer tubeless type. If I can get enough truck owners together it would help defer the costs. Not looking to discard my original rims. Just want to make our truck easier to use. Yes, our truck is used weekly. It still has to earn its keep. Not looking for long dissertations. Just wanting to see if there are other Dodge one ton truck owners who prefer the tubeless and if they would be willing to partner up. Planning to stay with the standard look of the one ton rims. Cannot guarantee an exact match but perhaps similar steel painted white rims. Details can be worked out once I see how many will be interested. Thanks, Randy
  6. Can anyone recommend a GOOD custom wheel shop that can do rim widening? I used Stockton wheel many years ago for other wheel work but it seems that they are unreliable these days. I want to switch to is the Yokohama RY215 7R15 blackwall, which is very close to the O.E. size of 6.70x15 in terms of tread contact, overall width and height for my 1950 P20 sedan. (I tried the Coker Bias Look Radial in O.E. size...not happy with the quality) The only hangup is that it is recommended for a minimum rim width of 5", while my stock rims are 4 1/2". I know folks who run even wider radials on stock rims, but I'd rather not push my luck with a 70 year old rim, and I figure the tire company put their specs in writing for a reason. I've considered Wheel Vintiques, but I don't want to have to grind off the rivets on my stock hubs, and all their 15 x 5 wheels also have a much shallower backspace than O.E. Seems the best solution is to have the original rims widened to 5"...and the bonus is that the stock poverty caps will still fit. Any leads or recommendations would be appreciated!
  7. I am starting the disassembly process on the B1B and am trying to figure out if the wheels I have are stock. For some reason I thought I read that 16” wheels were stock. These, however, are 15”. They have a hole cutout for a locating pin that matches the hub, so I have to think they are original. Thanks.
  8. Folks, I am trying to find a correct color equivalent, paint number or similar for the required GOLD BRONZE color pinstriping called out for the wheels on a car with a kenwood green body color. I have searched here as best I can as well as on google and looking at various pin striping paint suppliers. I see numerous imitation gold color paints but wonder if there is any further knowledge amongst members. I have an all original 1948 4 dr Special Deluxe Plymouth with 10,800 original miles but unfortunately someone spray painted the wheels black. Its a shame, but I need to get them repainted and want to be as authentic as possible Many thanks,
  9. I'm new to this forum and glad to be here. I am about to replace the tires on my B3c. Currently it has 15" rims but I know the truck originally had 16" rims. Why did people convert to 15" and how difficult is it to find 16" rims for my truck. Also looking for recommendations on sourcing new tires/// 700 or 750 6 ply. Many thanks,
  10. When I bought this car a while ago, it came with Uni-lug wheels with 14" tires. I've recently got it up and running (and stopping) and it turns horribly with these tires on it. I want to get stock wheels and tires, but can't find the specs for them. All I know is they're 6.00X16.. But I'm not sure if that's the right ones, and I also need the tires size meant for that car. Thanks!! (best pic of my wheels that I could find)
  11. I have Coker wide whites on my P15. Although they clearly have very few miles on them and show no cracks in the sidewalls, I suspect that they are about ten years old. I plan to do quite a bit of driving this year and won't be surprised if they fail. I'm looking into radials to replace the tube tires. Will my stock wheels handle the radials? I think the radials will give me a better ride and improve steering and control. Does anyone have experience with radials on and old car?
  12. Hello, Would any of you happen to know what brand and type of tires came on 1946 p-15 Plymouth Deluxe Club Coupes? I am told Plymouth switched to Goodyear supercusions sometime in '47, but I can't find anything about the original make of tires. (I ask because I think the old spare in my car's trunk might be one of the original tires). Thanks!
  13. Hello, when I got my truck, I also got an assortment of wheels. the first picture attached is the 5 wheels that came with the truck. The one on the far left is a 14 inch tire and I guess was just thrown in the back of the truck when I got it. Not counting the 14" tire, I have what looks like three different wheel styles. I have not seen enough of these wheels to know which are which. Are any of these wheels correct for a 1950 Dodge B2C? Thanks, Jerry
