This is an abridged service manual covering Plymouth cars from 1936-1942.
  2. Bought me a 1950 Chrysler Windsor with the spitfire 6 in it. Got it yesterday and first gear and reverse work. I think 2nd and 3rd are linked wrong. The man I bought it from said his brother messed with the linkages and got them messed up. Since I’ve never had any experience with a 1950 Chrysler and this is my first time I need outside help on locating, diagnosing and fixing the problem so I can get this beauty out on the road! (PS- he said all the gears worked and he drove it 2 months ago up until his brother messed with it) also general knowledge and things to look out for with this motor would be appreciated as well! Thank you!
  3. Hi all, I'm new here and will get some pics of my new project up soon, as well as some progress reports. Currently, though, I'm in search of a gasket set and seal for the 3 speed manual, standard duty, transmission for my pickup. Google hasn't provided any results, except for a similar products, but not the ones I need. Anyone know of a source or recommend how I can move forward? Any help is appreciated, first project vehicle here. Done a handful of motorcycles in the past.
  4. a recent purchase on E-pay....it has the B series trucks (white), Power Wagons (orange) and Panel (yellow) truck info if anyone is in need of info let me know.
  5. I know this topic is discussed frequently, but I really don't seem to be finding the information I am looking for. I am wondering what "simple" options there are for transmission swaps for my 50 Dodge Coronet 230 flat head. I know there is the S-10 T5 option, and so far I am leaning in that direction. What I would like to find out is if there are other transmissions that will work as as an easy swap. I'm not too concerned about power loss if there is a viable automatic that is essentially bolt in- Cant be worse the the gyro-matic! I am keeping the internal motor stock, but thinking about a dual carb and split exhaust. I want to leave it 6volt as well. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  6. Hello all, as my name suggests I am traditionally a Pontiac guy. I have searched this forum already and found a lot of good info, but Im having trouble getting an answer to my Overdrive trans dilema. Any help would be appreciated. I had the opportunity to score a pretty solid 54 Plymouth Plaza (wagon) with the 230 and the 3 spd manual . Now, the work begins to make it like I want it to be. As I intend to drive it regularly, an overdrive trans is a must. I intend to keep the 230. As luck would have it, my friends uncle just scored a 52 Dodge truck. Also a flat 6 and a manual trans. He isnt using either, and I would like to know: 1) if his manual trans could be an overdirve trans. ie did they put OD trans's in trucks 2) how would I (he) identify the trans as an OD unit as opposed to a regular 3 spd. (I am in TX the trans in in MI) 3) what are the differences between his truck trans and my car trans. I have learned they are different and I think with the bellhousing I can mate his trans to my motor but i am not fluent enough to do this in a timely (and painless) fashion I prefer to use the factory trans for an overdrive because i want this car to remain factory looking. It will not be getting a modern driveline. If i get desperate I will T5 it though because the speed limit it 75 here and I dont want my flatty to come apart on me. Thanks in advance for any advise you can offer
