  1. Merle - the tires are smaller than the bias ply, by two inches so they do look smaller in the wheel opening. I needed those inches to fit in my garage and can live with the way they look. John - The wheels needed replacing as they would never balance and were getting worse judging by the increase in vibration. I also wanted to replace the bias ply tires for a better ride and now there is no vibration. The other mission here was to lower the truck a couple of inches so it will now fit in my garage. I purchased hubcaps from US Wheels for these wheels and got Dodge script from Graphic Express to place on them. I think they look pretty good even though they are not an exact match to the original and the only people who would know are the ones very familiar with our trucks. Not taking the truck to any shows to win some sort of originality award anyway. 😂
  2. Finally got new wheels and tires for my truck. US Wheel part number 455-5615 fits. They are a 15 by 6 wheel with both a 5x5 and 5x5.5 bolt pattern. The offset is 6 and the backspacing is 3.75 with a bore of 95.25. The wheel fit nicely and have allowed me to switch to radial tires from the bias ply I was running. World of difference in the ride and the amount of vibration I was experiencing. I was using the original wheels with the 700-15 bias ply tires. Now I have 205/75 R15 tires which also lowered the truck a little over 2 inches - something I needed in order to get the truck in my garage - there is a slope and such making it a challenge. The wheels can be ordered with beauty rings and hubcaps. The original hubcaps will not fit so new ones are a must, I will be putting the ones I ordered on after I apply some Doge lettering to them. So, here ya go for any B4C 3/4 ton truck owners looking for wheels. Tom
  3. Interesting information on my truck. Let me start by saying my restoration of the truck was never intended to be one where it would be completely stock. I wanted a truck I can drive around my town safely and reliably. Hence, it is 12V negative ground, has an alternator, uses a spin on by-pass oil filter, has LED lights, pertronix ignition and all the wiring has been replaced. This truck will never be taken to any shows and presented as an all original version, it is just my fun to drive around town vehicle. As for the tail light brackets and the center hinge the original owner, my father in law, is unfortunately no longer with us to ask about these kinds of things. The truck came to me after sitting for about 15 years untouched. Before that it had lived its life in northern Wisconsin only being used during the summer months while the family vacationed. While the brackets for the tail lights may be incorrect for a B4C, they are Dodge period correct so if they were replaced at some point at least the person replacing them used the right manufacturer. A likely scenario could be the one or more of the original brackets succumbed to the Wisconsin weather and these were picked up at a dealer and used to replace the original. The truck, as far as anyone knows, and judging from the metal has never been in a accident or hit in any way. The center support bracket is correct for the truck I believe as the replacement one listed at the Mar-K website and others is the same and is identified as belonging to a 1953 B4C 3/4 ton. I did paint the bracket silver just to set if off a bit and realize it should be body color. As for its size it is, 4 inches wide and the box is a 90 by 54 highside. I hope this helps. I have learned and I am by no means an expert, that the 53 3/4 ton B4C is quite a unique beast and parts can be hard to find. The 1/2 ton seems to be more plentiful and has more parts available. Tom
  4. Congratulations! Nice find.
  5. Yes I do have lights on both sides but the one on the passenger side has the cutout for the plate.
  6. This is interesting, my 53 B4C has the plate on the passenger side. Maybe someone before me switched the tail lights.
  7. This diagram and explanation might help. I also wonder about the use of a full flow filter, I know on my 53 218 it uses a by pass filter so when I upgraded to a spin on filter I use a Wix 51050.
  8. Check dcmclassics.com They have replacement knobs.
  9. Just installed a Red Crown Gasoline light in our carport to go with the truck. I am pretty happy with the results.

  10. It replaces the original setup completely. This particular WIX filter is designed for a bypass system like the one in our trucks so no flow issues.
  11. I second the NiCopp idea. Used it on my 53 for the brakes and fuel lines. One word of caution, if you are too aggressive while bending it will kink so go slow and bend little by little until you get the desired result.
  12. Welcome, Great looking truck and you caught the light just right! Tom
  13. Here is what I did on my 53 B4C that eliminated the spacer. Works great and one less place to worry about leaking.
