  4. Ok 1953 b3 .Inside the door there is a stiffener in the body of the door, that runs outside to inside skin.My question is-is this stiffener suppose to be fastened to the outside side-or just float against the outside skin with a gasket?Cleaning up the door inside I noticed the inside skin is tight to the stiffener and the part going to the outside seems to have some of gasket or is that just glue?Iwas thinking about panel bonding it to the door. Thanks in advance.
  5. I have the opportunity to put a more than standard Upholstery in my 1953 B3 truck. I was going to go with black since my interior was brown before but the outside of my truck was originally red. So now I have the opportunity to go with maybe a rule and pleated interior instead of just putting the fabric on straight fabric board flat for the interior and the headliner. Then I could have around the cabin behind the seat in place And the headliner in pleats along with the seat and the door panels and I was wondering if that would take away from my value if I wanted to sell the truck? My neighbor is a very talented upholsterer who does very reasonable middle values work. If I do the headliner in pleats along with the seat and the door panels and I was wondering if that would take away from value if sold. My neighbor is retired but is still available to you other fellas for quotes.Ive had work don on cycle seats sidecar interiors and was very happy with the results .thanks

  11. Hey jeff

thankyou for your past information. I can't find nothing in the technical section or in the before Dodge manual on how to remove the door crank handles from the inside of the 53 Dodge truck could you tell me how to do that. Thanks for doing

      Hi Bergy;

The handles on mine were held on the shaft by a small split pin. You need to use a small diameter punch to push these out. Just push the door card or perhaps the rubber escheon back some and you should be able to see them.

      Hth, Jeff

  13. 1953 B3 here. Thinking about putting an aftermarket radio 12 V in the glove box. I am still running the original 6 V system. I was thinking about buying one of those Step up transformers that go from 6 V to 12 V but they only rated at 1 amp. I was looking at some pretty sophisticated radios like I have in my other vehicles iare aftermarket that included Bluetooth .I suppose all after market radios would have the amperage draw written on the radio or on the instructions .I wonder if I'd be stuck with a plain 12 V radio because of the one amp amperage maximum produced by the step up transformer ?Anybody use any of those with any luck? Another question would be with the antennae on the fender would there not be a cross ground situation running the positive ground system even if the radio is isolated in a ground proof box ? Thanks in advance
  14. I have a 1953 Dodge B3 pick up truck. I've been looking on the Internet for a front wheel-conversion disc brake . I see advertisements from Florida from Rusty hope.com and from scarcebird.com both of these companies offer adapter plates and bearings and bolts and nuts. The kits do not come with the calipers the rotors brake equalizer valve.the Did anybody ever come up with their own disc conversion kit where did you get the parts and how do they work out I'd like to know Am I stuck buying one of their kits? It does not seem that complicated if I could figure out a source where to get the Adapter plates ? Thanks
  15. Hey there pflaming Very interested on your m/c swap,as I have a 1953 B3. Plan on still running stock brakes. I've been trying to follow all your other post on the forum about the rebuilding of your truck the Phoenix. My neighbor has a 99Jeep Cherokee I called The Vin number in and it came out to be a 355 ratio. also after seeing your M – C swap I could use the same m/c lik also after seeing your M – C swap I could use the same message cylinder to make this switch like you did e you did. What did you use for your front desk brake conversion .?So if I run the 650x 16 stock size what do you think my top road speed will be with a four-speed ?thanks
  16. eBay has a 1956-57 power wagon model 75 truck master heater.would this fit in a 1953 b3?thanks
  17. Good idea for the truck master either where am I going to find one where they in all different kinds of manufacture vehicles or just dodge trucks thanks for your help
  18. Hello to everyone I have no heater in my cab and I was wondering what kind of heater would fit this truck and if I could use the heater out of different Chrysler dodges or Plymouth cars of the same time period. I was thinking maybe about a bunk heater or maybe a heater out of the rear of a school bus . Thanks in advance
  19.  Hey there  pflaming .always real interested in what you have to say because my truck which I just got is a 53 and all of your rebuilding forum entries have really helped me get more information on reworking mine.I seen in one of your rebuilding post that you used a harness from ezwiring and I was wondering which one of the wiring harness is kityou had bought. Also I was wondering what kind of a rear bumper do you have in your truck I have some fabricated steel diamond plate bumper it looks like the one that was posted on Pinterest on the back of a fire department pick up truck and I was wondering if that was a stock bumper that they could order for that application or if it was just aftermarket one because I'd like to go back to her original bumper .I have a 218 stock motor with a four-speed trans I got a neighbor with a 355 Jeep Cherokee rear, I was thinking about putting in instead of their original 4.11 -so I was wondering what kind a road speed  we can I get out of that if I use the 650x16original stock tires and wheels ? What kind of wms difference is there between the the jeep and the original rear? Thanks

Email me at pflaming@mail.fresnostate.edu and I can more quickly respond. In short, I used the $180 harness in my SUBURBAN and I wired the truck myself.. I would NOT spend the money on a harness for the truck (see my reply on email) 2. rear bumpers like mine are hard to find, yet there was never a OEM bumper. 3. I am thinking of putting a 3:55 rear axle behind a four speed because 3rd gear in the combo would be nearly the same as 3rd in a 3:73 combo and 4th then would in effect be an overdrive or cruse drive. I changed to 15" rims and radial tires. The difference in ride and handling is amazing. I also removed the next to bottom leave in all springs for a lower center of gravity and a better ride.

I cruse at 60-65 with my 218 and the 3"73 rear axle, the next gear would drop engine noise in the cab drastically.

I pleased my posts were helpful.

  22. Hello there everyone , I'd like to join . I just bought a 1953 Dodge halfon p/u truck and I know nothing about finding all the aftermarket suppliers as far as getting it back into Street shape. I had a 1950 B truck 32 years ago and I loved the hell out of the truck. Now since I am semi retired I have this 1953 project that I'm really excited about. A lot of things have changed in the last 32 years and. I just need to have the advice and help of the other forum members to help me get this truck back in shape.thanks to everyone.
  23. Also what can I expect as a mph increase between the two rears?the 3:55 and the 4:11?
  24. Yes guys, you are right.got the vin called dealer.3:55 rear.im wondering now if any body knows what the outside drum width difference is,between thatjeep cherokeer rear and the original rear? Should the jeep be able to mount original stock rims ? Thanks in advance
  25. In a previous postI had mentioned-I think...?..that a neighbor had a 99 keep Cherokee.I was unsure of axle width compared to my 53 b 1/2 ton. Looks like it will work. So,now my question is-with the 218 engine ,original4 speed- with that new rear -what kind of road speed with the 6.50 x16 tires .? Thanks in advance.
