The Cherokee wiith a Dana 44 looks to be pretty rare. Im pretty sure most had D30/35 combos. However, here is a chart for D44's if it helps. http://www.jeeptech.com/axle/d44.html

Installed the Pertronix ignition and 40k volt coil. She runs pretty smooth. I cant wait to get her back on the road soon. http://vid89.photobucket.com/albums/k223/59bisquik/Pertronix%20Install_zps1hjgnojb.mp4

Still working on cleaning up the frame to paint and got tired of wire wheel and sand blaster. Went looking for trouble and found a bit. Fortunately not too bad and fairly easy to repair. Im sure everyone has to go through some of this when bringing a vehicle back from the dead. I just want to start putting it back together and quit finding reasons to keep taking it apart! Dirty underside... Cleaned up a bit... That was alot of cleaner and scrubbing! Pulled the floor mat and what a mess! A bit better... need to treat that floor and reseal that trans access plate. Are replacement grommets/seals available for all of the pedals?

No, the larger one is a sock style. The smaller one came off the industrial engine and it uses the 1071 cartridge filter.

Went down and got a 1071 Napa Gold filter today. Fits in the smaller canister like a glove. Its readily available at Autozone from Fram and obviously Napa also. Started cleaning it up and will get it plumbed up soon. There are no markings on it except "inlet" up at the top. Thanks for the help guys.

1077 isn't available anymore but the 1071 is. Hopefully I can get that one tomorrow.

I have two different oil canisters for my engine. The first one is smaller and has no markings but has a Napa 1077 cartridge style filter in it. It has a small spring on the top bolt to hold the filter down. I think this came off the industrial 218. The other one is a bit larger and has a Napa 1071 cartridge style filter in it. It has a spring at the bottom, and a perforated screen attached to the top. It has a regular bolt and not a T-handle. The cover says "Deluxe Prod. Corp. La Porte IND". and " Use JC Cartridge and Use G-101 Cover Gasket". I am wondering if the second one is supposed to be a sock filter and somebody over the years put in a cartridge. Which one should I use? After reading a couple threads on the different styles I am confused and wondering which is right. Obviously I dont want to damage the engine.

Persistence (and a spare box of carbs and distributors) paid off. The accelerator pump was not working and I cleaned all the plugs up since Autozone doesn't even stock them. Swapped distributor caps with my spare and she runs great! Thanks for all of the tips. I thought for sure it was ignition since it wouldn't fire on starting fluid... Looks like I was wrong.

I have 6.42 volts at the battery and 5.8 at the coil. I tried using an old battery to power the coil while cranking so that I didnt get a voltage drop from the starter, no difference.
-
I just got a new battery and tossed it in the truck. It still wont start but turns over better. I checked the carb and it has fuel in it and also tried using starting fluid and it doesnt even try to fire. I pulled the distributor cap off and looked for tight wires and moving points. Then pulled the spark plug and set it on the head. It gets a very weak orange spark. I have 5.8V at the coil primary side. I also tried swapping out the coil with no change. I am ready to upgrade to the Pertronix unit and Flame Thrower coil. Am I missing anything else? I feel silly with such a simple system. Since starting fluid doesnt even make a difference, I am leaning towards the ignition as the culprit.

Thanks!

So, the one on the right with the spring visible?

I ordered some new rear axle inner seals from Oldmoparparts.com. They look to be the right size, but very different in construction compared to the seals that are in there currently. Which way do these seals go in?

Just returned from a road trip to Fresno to pick up a set of 53 bed sides. Looks like they are a match and just need sanded, painted and the cycle fender bolt holes welded shut, versus my others which had some serious cancer. Looks like a drive well worth it! Im glad I was bored and just surfing through ebay!

Working on taking the rear springs off and getting ready to sandblast and paint... Looks like the rear shackles have been off before. The left handed thread one was on the wrong side!

Thank you!

Since I am waiting on my battery to get here, i decided to work on the rear some more. Today I pulled the overload springs off and pulled the axle housing out so I can clean it up and change out the gears etc. This should look alot nicer once I get her all cleaned and painted.

When I got the truck from my dad, the bed was disassembled. The bed is in pretty rough condition from hauling and storing lumber in. I just purchased a set of bed sides that are in much better condition than mine. Besides the hole pattern for the fenders, the bed sides from a 50-53 should fit correct? Secondly, does anyone have an exploded diagram of the bed or pictures of theirs while the wood was out, so I can see how it goes back together? Here is my original bed side. And the ones I just bought.

Are those 17" Mustang wheels? Do you have spacers for the offset or does this truck have a frame swap?
-
Looks really nice. Those wheels give it a nice look and fit well too.

Well, after a bit of tinkering around, I found out why she wont start. It has two 6V batteries in parallel and both are dead! I tried charging them for 12 hours and no luck. I did unhook the rest of the truck from the starter and then test the starter with a 12V battery and it spins just fine. Looks like I will be heading down to the store to get atleast one new battery. As an embarrassing side note... where the heck is neutral on a column shift?

It took a bit of sawzall action on the fuel tank bolts to get her out, and I think it was installed wrong after seeing some of the threads about spring bolts. Anyway, I wonder if this tank will be salvageable. It has multiple pin hole leaks on the bottom and one that has been patched previously above the seam. Also alot of rust build up on the corners right over the seams. Fortunately, I have a spare 10 gallon spun aluminum tank I can use till I come up with something.
