  1. Most excellent! I have a copy that I paid about twice that for but it has been worth every penny. Just ordered two more copies for my Dad and uncle who are working on restoring a couple back in AZ. I am sure they will find this book very useful as I have. Thanks for sharing!
  2. I've seen this on the border to Mexico before. Thought Reg was playing Coyote!!
  3. I was thinking the same way as you Merle. That's why I was looking for some pix on actual mounts folks have done where they don't have a corner window. That is the way I am leaning but instead of creating the wheel all over... Thanks guys! Rob
  4. I gotta admit you have me wanting to ask the same question about one I saw today. Lets be real. How often do you see one of these great trucks on the road?? I came home for lunch today, running late to get back and I catch a 1 ton dually probably late 40s to 1950 coming at me with a load of roofing products in the back. Beautiful red truck. I am looking at the grill as he is heading towards me thinking, "no way, that looks like a pilot house!" It gets close enough, look at the grill and then nameplates and I am dumbfounded. Then I was thinking, do I turn around and "stalk" the guy until he stops and get his info?? If I had more time, I would have. Now I have to look out a little more closely as I drive home the rest of the week hoping I see him again. Great condition and the guy seems to be using it for a roofing business here in Dubuque. Made my day!
  5. Hey guys. Just got done looking at Dans interior pix and realized he did not have the corner windows like me and that he has the shoulder belts mounted. Anyone else have should belts mounted without the corner windows?? IF so, could you post some pix and share your experiences please. I have seen Merle's with the corner windows as well as others. Just trying to figure what works best for mounting. Thanks! Rob
  6. Love the list. Thanks Merle and Charlie. Been thinking about the conversion and to have that info up front just rocks. Rob
  7. good info merle. standard cab - no frills here!
  8. While on this topic, did all pilothouse trucks come with vent glass??? My 51 3/4 ton doesn't have any - probably ripped out at some time. Just trying to figure if I leave as is or need to do something to restore to original. Thanks.
  9. I wanna know how you got that pix off the BJ site Bob? The pix you posted is huge compared to the one they "blow up" when you click on it. Trying to get a better look at the other 2 pix they show. Any advice is appreciated!
  10. On this topic - anyone know where I can find a set of 4 like the ones up top?? I have seen some like Reg's but I do not think those were on the 51s though I could be wrong. Need them for a 51 3/4 ton. Thanks!
  11. Sending PM - I too am interested in the Don Bunn Books.
  12. You guys look like you're brothers. Scary!
  13. OK, while I used to be an adjuster and write basic auto estimates using a computer, I never did anything on the restoration side with refinishing. Most of the repairs where basic sand, refinish and blend. I want to prep my truck as much as possible before refinish. Very little rust as this was an AZ truck all its life. What are the suggestions on prep? Remove paint to bare metal? If so, what do I use? Or do I sand everything down to a point, clean it up with solvent then primer and refinish? I have seen suggestions all over about removing rust with sandblasters, etc. but not simple paint prep. Thanks.
  14. Wow. That Dodge has a very familiar paint job to the one mine had when my Granddad bought it in 52. He bought it off a crop duster out of Yuma, AZ. Same colors. Just that the red didn't go into the door. It kind of flared into the hood from the fenders. I am trying to get the photos so I can get close to what it was back then. Good looking truck though. Why does his motor compartment/engine look different??
