The radiator has a tight fit , and a electric fan is doing the cooling now . Found the brand new engine long time ago on Amsterdam Airport as a spare engine for a airplane tractor, brand new in a crate.

Rear end axle replacement tip 1948 Plymouth
fredsv8shop replied to Thomba48's topic in P15-D24 Forum
go ahead with the swap, its a easy bolt in after relocating the spring perches about 2 inches, I did the swap with a 1972 sattelite rear axle in my 1950 business coupe in 1 saturday afternoon, the only special part you need is a adaptor for the drive shaft. But you are lucky I have a adaptor in my garage and I live in the Netherlands, give me a email and we work it out. fredsv8shop@kpnmail.nl regards Fred -
To my surprise the Dutch RDW ( DMV ) had no trouble with the Hudson, having a united europe these days the RDW has to accept the English technical standard of tech inspection, the car having its full MOT and paperwork up to date so the dutch dmv accepted the car without any tech inspection whatsoever. They checked the paperwork with the car and I have my Dutch registration on the car now !!!! They loved the sound of the 440 engine and asked me how much horsepower there was, I played dumb and sayd : i dunno , so he grabbed a book and looked up the engines of 1973 and found 281 HP to be allright, he said "You can't have enough power on paper for the future " one of inspectors had a look in the engine bay and wondered if Hudson had independed suspension in 1946 I told him that Hudson was way ahead of its time, he seemd pleased with the answer and left. They measured up the car and wheels etc. because this being the first Hudson pick-up ever to be brought into the Netherlands, so now the have recorded the dimensions of a 1988 Chevy C10 chassis as beeing a 1946 Hudson, I wonder the trouble the next Hudson will have ??? But all in all this time I look at the tech inspectors from the Dutch DMV as being my friends. Regards Fred

The car will stay like it is this year and next winter we decide what to do, maybe it stay's the way it is ( i like the old school ratty look ) Fred

Goodmorning , and one more day to go for igors new manyfold !! I must say that he could not have chosen a better moment for his search because I have a " Crispy " 49 buzz coupe standing in my garage which is going on transport to Germany next week-end to a guy who wants to build a copy of The High and Mighty out of it. http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y185/fredsv8shop/1949%20buzz%20coupe/ This car whas as close as you get to a " Barn find " It started its life as a original import in 1949 to the Netherlands, been driven around until the late 60's than put in a wharehouse for 10 odd years and than they started to restore the car, chassis / brakes / rear axle / motor / gear box / steering all have been restored / renewed. Than unfortunaly the owner had his first stroke and the car went into the wharehouse again. In the following years it moved 4 or 5 times and finally it ended up in a leaking hay shed of a farm. During the years all kinds of parts dissapeared and you could say that there whas a empty shell left. Bought the car from the old gentleman for too much money but I did not dare to tell this old sick grandfather that his one time beautifull little buzz coupe changed over the years into a pile of junk. He told me that he had a metal workshop for more than 40 years and restored a lot of cars during that time , after concluding the deal he asked me to accompany him to another warehouse where there where some Plymouth parts I maybe could use for restoring the car. In the other wharehouse there where lost of parts lying around and I asked him what he wanted for the parts . He told me to take the whole lot with me because he did not need it anymore. That means 2 truckloads full of spare parts and tools etc.!! He did not want to have any money for it, it whas all included in the deal he said. So now the coupe going to Germany to start another live as a Hemi dragracer I feel that I can " Borrow " the exhaust manyfold for Igor because the old six will not be used in the car anyway, and Igor will have a "original Dutch" manifold on his engine. Keep you updated on the repair. Fred

I have been in contact with Igor this morning , He's living only 60 odd miles from my place so he will be over on Saturday and we will install a new manyfold on his motor. Will send some pictures after the job is done. Fred

Bob, I do not know a cranbrook driver by the name of Igor but that could change if you give me his details or you give him mine, I think I might have a manifold for him lying around in my garage. ( and more stuff ) Regards Fred email : plymouth@kpnmail.nl cel Phone : +31(0)6.430.777.46

I send out some e-mails to people who should know it and I am getting answers ranging from: NO, to: you can not use a marine engine for street use etc. etc.... If just sombody could tell me WHY it is not possible !!!! This is the engine :

Gentleman, Can anyone help me with finding these exhaust headers ?? This picture is from a while ago here on the forum, I would love to get in touch with the maker of these headers. As I remember these where for a short flathead engine and I wonder if I could get hold of long block engine headers. Regards Fred

A new challenge !! Found a 1949 buzz coupe in a old barn in the netherlands, a original 1949 import !! I am missing a few parts though !!! Rear fenders , front fenders , 2 doors, the hood, the interior is completely gone etc etc, mainly it is that I have a body and chassis and engine, so now it is time to start hunting down the missing parts.
