Here's an odd one. I replaced my regulator. I was suspicious that my AMP gauge was not showing chargeing at increased RPM's. Generator was just checked ot. AMP gauge now shows proper movment but.... Out of nowhere my fuel gauge goes slowly to full, then back down and up again. I know I have less than 1/2 tank, and this gauge was right on up till now. How are these events conected please ?

There used to be a Chrysler Museum that you could write to small fee they would send you a copy of the original build card that went with the car to the dealer. I just did a search for it the website is shut down and transferred to another Fiat company looks like the museum has been closed for a few years Sad -

Small world Andy ! Wow There is still a Dodge dealer in White Palins NY where mine D24 was sold originally ( build card info ) . Different name but same street. Last PO is still a friend of mine. He only had it 1974-80, then mine ever since. -

I just changed the oil and filter. Filled the canister up aroud the filter with oil. New lid gasket too. The canister does get hot to touch as the manual suggests checking. Does the oil pressure drop when the valve opens ? -

I'll check it out. You never know. Still actually have receipts from P.O. 1975-1980. Two other shops he used. One of them must have brought this genny in there 75 for re-build. I will look for this stamp on the starter -
Discovered my generator was not working. Brought it to this place near by and they told me it had been there once before. Thier initials , and the year " 75 " was stamped on the housing. 48 years ago ! That's when the PO ( friend of mine ) was getting it on the road. Broken wire inside. I must have tightened the terminal too far. All set now. Cool that this place has been there since 1929. Current owner's grandfather bought it from the original family after working there for years. Just another piece of this puzzle.

Hi all, HOT day in Connecticut. Morning, and already 80's So I took about a 30 mile trip, mostly primary roads, 35-40 MPH avg. First time at 50... speedy ! Observations and a question. VERY pleased that the Temp read a steady 180' while moving, long idles 200 ish, then back down again to 180. Amp gauge finally registering as I just had the generator checked out and a broken wire repaired. ( more on that later ) OIL, running at 40 lbs, idle at lights 20ish. Now till this long trip I've been in the garage or around the block, few miles at best these past few years while working on the car. It's been 40-60 lbs oil pressure till this long trip. QUESTION, is this my oil relief valve kicking in and filtering the oil ?? Also, at the hottest, and furthest point I stopped for about 15 minutes, and again pleased it started right up. I installed a heat shield under the carb bowl and it seemed to help with past re-start issue.

Can't get front brake shoes to go in so drum will fit on 48 DeSoto.
Conn47D24 replied to MarcDeSoto's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Marc, do the new wheel cylinder piston match the pins you're using? If it's a shallow piston Cup you will need the shorter more modern pins. I just have the reverse problem where the short pins in the deep cups were pushing the shoes out far enough change them to the old pins and now I'm in good shape. -
Bob, Yes, dual heating units. # 53 & 54 Driverside unit I added, so had to do the plumbing myself.

Hi Rich This switch only works if I tap it a few times. Also, I disconnect the battery when not driving . Question , after I connected to B terminal, I started the car and the Amp meter was swinging around like crazy. Took the lead off the terminal and it still was wild. Shut the car off disconnected the battery reconnected and it meter was back to normal sits kind of steady just a hair underneath zero as usual. What the heck is that all about? I don't need the hood light that bad LOL

Thank you all. I own a multimeter , understand it's basic function, but I've never mastered using it ,need to do a tutorial on YouTube I suppose. This is the old style butterfly hood style light that closes with the hood and shuts off with a Mercury switch. Mercury, which is sketchy but I wanted to install it anyway. I will attach to the "B" terminal on the regulator . Instructions only say HOT therefore my question to be sure. I'm taking here that this wiring will allow it to be used with key on or off thank you !!!

For the purpose of connecting and under hood accessory light. The instructions tell me either regulator or horn relay " hot " terminal. Please guide me towards which terminal this would be on either REG OR HR. Thank you in advance ?

Yes on the filter, but most hours of running have been in the garage and around the block. Probably not much filter use. I finally feel done and enjoyed a nice ride yesterday. Great product. I will try the counter clockwise plan next change. Really have to fight with it from grabing the edges. It's like trying to put a cat in a bathtub ?

So happy I bought this drain plug . Third oil change, and it still catches the fine metal ( grey ) , paste like . This plug is VERY strong , hard to line it up and back into the pan actually. Saw them on Facebook. Shop I recall in Montana ?? Fellow and his Daughter make them. After all the rebuld work it was cheap insurance.

I have also completed the new Wilwood MC as others here have done. BIG help with photos and info here on the forum. Wish I had done this from the start. Feel much safer. So I'm 99 % stock, it's OK.

This was the cause of multiple issues ! I was using new style ( short ) pins with the deeper wheel cylinder pistons. Couldn't get a good feeling pedal. Also, the WC's were leaking, seems they piston was trying to push out too far due to the pin. Rebuilt all WC, used my original pins ( thank God I horde stuff ) Brakes are feeling and working fine now.

No metal on these. Originals did if I recall

Thanks all great ideas. May go with loose for awhile, work on fabricating a metal base. I'm luck that I bought these about 12 years ago for I recall $175. I see them now 3 Xs that. Another step closer !

Hello all. Any advice on how to secure these rubber mats? I think the originals were mounted on metal and screwed down. How about an adhesive? Suggestions on rubber to metal products??
