  2. the bolts in my 46 bed are just a flat head carraige bolt.
  3. some of the new cars have electric power steering. Don't know of anyone thats done this but would think it could be done with ease.
  4. Any chance you can vault ceiling. I know several people that have done that.
  5. If you just want to replace the distributor, note where the rotor points and put the new one in the same place. If it won't start remove it and rotate 180 degrees
  6. Take it to NAPA. They can cross it if you get someone willing to try.
  7. I have a pair of glasses two powers stronger then my regular glasses that I use just for welding with auto helmet. Bought at drug store. This lets me see the puddle very easy.

  10. My father bought a new 1940 Pontiac, drove it home, jacked it up and put it on blocks. He said he was afraid you wouldn't be able to buy any cars during the war. He was right. Started driving it in 1947. He never bought another new car because he was waiting for the prices to come back down. That has never happened.
  11. I know of one guy that put p-15 rear fenders on a D24 and said the reason he did it was because the P-15 fenders were wider. Don't know if the bolts lined up or not but do know it was done.
  12. Tim, What elec pump do you use that don't bus your ears off?
  13. B/4 you do anything else wipe everything down real good and let the car idle for 5 min. Shut it down and see if you can see were the oil is comming from. I would ck the oil pan bolts (don't over tighten) and oil pump for leaks first.

  20. Sadly I had tosed the old gears and it was a few days later that I got back to it. From all the pictures I've seen and the ones you guys posted I had it right. The third valley counter clock wise from the keyway. Hope I find time to put it together today. THANKS MUCH! Flip
  21. Does anyone have a crank gear with the dot on it they could look at?

  23. I am replacing the timing chain and gears on a 56 230 engine. My new crank gear has no dot on it. I have done a search and it looks like the dot on the cam gear lines up with the third valley(on the grank gear) counting counter clock from the keyway in all the pictures I can find. Can anyone confirm this. How can I tell if I am not one turn off?? THANKS Flip
