  1. That`s funny Frank we think alike, I got five 12 volt cooling fans that I adapted Apollo 13 style and will power off a solar panel powered battery setup.
  2. No definitely not, but I always wanted one, and if life isn`t funny enough as I was unloading the tire changer off the trailer the Wife was busy coming home from the Dentist and hitting a pothole right behind another "poor-soul" and they both destroyed their tires. So she will be my first customer when the her new $107 replacement tire arrives, I`m just lucky the rim is not ruined, the tire sidewall split open.
  3. I was weened on the 20-20 and one was for sale for $100 on FB Marketplace but you need a rim-clamp for today's wheels, the 10-10 and 20-20 were for steel wheels. Just about everything can be done on a rim-clamp up to a 23 inch for this vintage model.
  4. This has always been a "Bucket-List" item for me and the stars finally aligned and I got one, a very early rim clamp Coats.
  5. I added some stainless steel 4in. vents to the container doors to add some much needed ventilation. I`am also adding 4 more of the industry standard vents, the container came with 2 installed which is the minimum required.
  6. No the weight is 5685+ lbs all metal weight, there is a water tank on the back and a pump and nozzles to keep the drums wet for rolling asphalt. But for rolling gravel no water is required so I won`t be using the water spray feature too often. The flat compacted gravel surface is a pleasure to walk and drive on as opposed to the walking on marbles feel of loose gravel under foot.
  7. My excavator buddy left his paving machine and one of his road rollers by me over the weekend, I borrowed the roller and rolled all my gravel road and graveled yard areas making everything nice and flat. When I finished my wife said you should get one of those for us to keep here and to use on a regular basis. Never before has my wife suggested I buy a piece of iron so I ran with the ball and bought my friends machine within the hour. We now own a 1995 Ingersol Rand D22 three ton roller with dual vibrating drums in excellent condition.
  8. Rest In Peace Ensign Parker, Thanks for the Laughs..
  9. That`s funny Don, a good one.
  10. My friend with the excavator who helped me set it level has done a few and claims they are not looked at as permanent buildings but as exactly what they are shipping containers. If you hard wire them with electricity or build something on or attached to them that status changes. As far as I`m concerned I am restoring a vintage shipping container to ship my antique cars safely in when I need to ship them somewhere, that`s my story and I`m sticking to it. My 10+acres and residence are classified as a "Homestead" very rural area and generally they leave me alone here, my nearest neighbor is a fifth of a mile away and he thinks it`s great.
  11. Apparently there a lot of factors involved in the price increases in new and used containers, found this article on the subject. https://shipped.com/blog/new-and-used-shipping-container-prices-continue-to-rise-in-2018/
  12. I fabricated a padlock lockbox out of some scrap metal I had gathering dust.
  13. Thanks, the painting still goes on. today hopefully the roof will get done. The price of these containers has actually started to increase as demand for them has risen, as you mentioned they are being used for housing purposes more and more.
  14. Thanks Bill, among my accumulated stuff were a couple of 20+yr old 5 gallon cans of Industrial Grade oil based paint. I mixed the heck out of it and it came back to life, went on easy, evened itself out nicely and actually looks pretty good. I am pretty sure this paint had lead in it, I felt like I was back in the Navy again, grinding off rust and painting everything gray.
  15. I was pretty lucky in that concern and the driver was very good at jockeying that box around to where I wanted it. The second bit of luck was my friend had his excavator down the road on a drainage dig and he came up and did the final positioning and leveling for me.
  16. Honestly I could not have built much of a shed for the $2600 I paid for this container with the price of lumber being what it is today.
