As this past year has been a busy one for me with half of it lost to health issues, treatment and recovery. Then to have a serious relapse of "old car fever" which has only gotten much worse, has caused me to get seriously behind in firewood production for this fast coming Winter. So I`ve had to start in earnest to play catch-up for about a week now. The gypsy moth caterpillar came thru a few years ago and killed a lot of the oak trees around here, I `ve been dropping them and splitting the wood small to dry in a haystack pile in the sun. This oak once dry makes great firewood, it burns long and hot almost like coal.

I `ve had the family`s 210 project car for three weeks now and I`ve slowly been working towards getting her back on the road. It came with a recently installed late 80`s vintage 350 out of a camaro and rams-head exhaust manifolds with no exhaust. This was a problem as every time the car was started it would upset the bride and our 4 dogs. One of them a little "trembler" who would shake for an hour like fireworks had gone off. I approached my local muffler guy who wanted no part of the job, but after two days of begging, pleading and cajoling he finally agreed to make me some temporary downpipes. When I got the car there he went from being about 65yrs old to 20yrs old, he couldn`t stop smiling at the darn car and put it right on the lift. He now started telling me the exhaust should go straight out the back (the original job he wanted no part of) so I just shut up and agreed that he knew best. He did a nice job at a reasonable price, I went with Thrush Glass Packs as that is the sound I have loved since I was a teenager. The important thing is the wife and the pooches are very happy...

I have wanted one of these my whole life and my wife has always known this so I ran into a "project car" that is about 2/3`s of the way towards completion and it was only 3hrs away so I bought it. At least my wife didn`t cry when she saw it, she actually smiled.

My tank`s fuel outlet was on the drivers side corner just where it needed to be, the old fuel line went right in with a little tweaking, I replaced it with new lines later when I added the 6 volt primer pump. The sender came with the tank as a package deal and my 48 has the one wire fuel sender so it hooked right up and works well. The fitting on the top of my tank is for the vent

At a Stopsign last night I noticed the Coupes "Ghostly" reflection caught in a window across the street and took a couple of pictures.

Beautiful photo composition, very nice use of the lighting for effect, car looks great.

Thank you for the compliment, this coupe apparently had good care by most if not all of the previous "caretakers", though one or two of them were prolific chain smokers. There is a handwritten bill of sale in the glovebox that shows this car sold for $25 in 1970, I`m guessing that was the scrap metal price at the time. But happily there was a lineage of owners that had this car and didn`t do anything stupid with it. It`s funny how much more attention the coupe gets now out on the street than it did in the 87-99 period when I last had it on the road, like a fine wine it`s now more appreciated than before, kids just love it, and older women 75-85 that I guess used to go out on "dates" in similar cars stop dead in their tracks waxing nostalgic. But I`m sure you know exactly what I`m going on about so I`ll stop here.

It doesn`t have the angle bend but it looks like this one would work ok... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Thermostat-Housing-for-1951-1956-Plymouth-Dodge-6-Cylinder-cars-Trucks-/171296807771?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27e215db5b&vxp=mtr another http://www.ebay.com/itm/426-HEMI-Thermostat-Housing-DODGE-PLYMOUTH-MOPAR-/141372218233?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20ea70db79&vxp=mtr

These pictures were taken this morning, I seem to feel the need to drive this car several times a day, I am afraid it`s becoming a compulsion.

I remember when I finally tackled my brake system, the owner of my local NAPA store chuckled when I came in for my first replacement brake line. His exact words were you`ll be back for more and he was right, I eventually changed them all. I tried to rebuild a NOS master I had and it lasted about two weeks and then I finally put in a new Cardone master. One of the biggest differences was noticed when I replaced the brake return springs, the old ones were stretched out and very tired

I already listed this under downloads but here it is again, a handy reference for D24 owners...This is the backside of the chart, both sides can be found under downloads, I couldn`t shrink the front side small enough to upload here. IMG_20140807_0002.pdf

You guys are making me feel like I got a real bargain, but really the paint was worth it and I can probably do another 100 hub caps, it doesn`t take much paint. I just hope it holds up.

There is also the possibility that the fan motor itself has a problem and the switch is heating up as a result of the possible resistance created by the bad motor. This is an electrician`s angle on a smoking switch, we would always look at the motor first.

Well I paid the most I`ve ever paid for a can of paint, a 1/2 pint of One Shot Bright Red was just shy of $25 delivered, I`m not the best with an artist brush but it came out fairly decent,
