  1. Don't believe everything you get in your email inbox http://www.snopes.com/language/stories/brass.htm
  2. My garage was a total wreck until a couple weekends ago. My wife and I pulled pretty much everything out into the driveway and yard, cleaned it and put things back into an actual spot. One time I thought I was done and went to back out the Dodge to go to my cruise-in and realized I still had enough stuff out in the driveway to fill an entire parking space.
  3. VW just quit making the old beetle there a few years ago. I was in Mexico about a year ago on vacation. Really surreal to see "brand new" old beetles everywhere. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VW_Beetle
  4. How's the tuning on the Solexes for VWs? There was an option for Solexes for Datsuns and they're supposed to be a bear to tune and keep tuned compared to the SUs that are on most
  5. iRobot Dirtdog available right now for the cheapest I've seen. It's been getting good reviews from the guys on the Roomba Review forum. I've been happy with my 2 other robots. http://www.woot.com/
  6. If I'd taken better notes, I would've been able to help. I bought several of all the bulbs listed on the homepage and replaced all my dash bulbs at one time. I didn't realize how bad they'd gotten until the new ones were in.
  7. Acid etching gets you about the same look. Not quite as white as blasting, though. Pick up some from Michaels if you want to give it a try.
  8. Sectioning came to mind after I posted but still wasn't sure. Thanks!
  9. I've seen pictures of our cars chopped (can't say I've seen a 4dr, though). One thing I've noticed is the cars always look a little "off". The body really needs to be chopped too (I think that's the correct term). I know it's cliche but I like the Mercs chopped. As for headroom, you could get by with quite a bit of chop before it became an issue.
  10. Yeah, I've come to realize that WD-40 is about useless as a rust buster. A dead giveaway is look in your garage for the rustiest can out there. It's invariably the WD-40 can. About the only thing I use it for is removing labels from stuff.
  11. I'm drawing a blank on the exact name but don't forget about the Mopar penetrant (exhaust manifold spray). We've discussed it before on the old forum. People outside of the Mopar community have said it was better than Kroil and PB Blaster.
  12. An engine shot would be an easy shot for them to take and not an unreasonable request.
  13. There have also been some people on the Datsun forum that have come across ebay pages with trojan viruses.
  14. That plastic warning may be because the temperature drop may make the plastic brittle. PB Blaster is still at front of my shelf for general use.
  15. That wrench is perfect for reaching around corners in tight places.
  16. Anyone heard or used this stuff? I ran across it in a boating magazine. http://www.crcindustries.com/auto/content/prod_detail.aspx?PN=05002&S=N I guess it gives new meaning to "freezing your nuts off"
  17. My first thought is "no way they will let that thing go for $8000", unless they really don't know what they have!
  18. Just found out what that little car was I saw in CA with the Christmas tree in it. A Fiat 500 Jolly After seeing John Mulders post in the "First Time" thread, I noticed a similarity in the front ends. A little more research and Voila, there it is! http://www.microcarmuseum.com/tour/fiat500jolly.html Sweet, only 100 surviving! 22hp! But it's only about 1000lbs
  19. What, no hammers? I have a set of screwdrivers that work when you twist the handle. Seriously, though, I've always eyed those sidewinder ratchets and keep telling myself I'll get one. Seems like it would come in pretty handy.
  20. Has there ever been such an election?
  21. How's this for unsexy? A 1986 Chevy Winnebego conversion. I remember starting off by using my right for the gas and left for the brake. Actually, later in highschool, I won a few stoplight drags with that van against some of my friends. Fiberglass top and 350 V8. My parents still own that van and time has not been kind to it.
  22. A 20lb slide hammer? What the heck do you use that on? Do you have to get a running start to use it? My fingers hurt just thinking about it.
  23. Norm, about the only way that hammer would have been any good is to replace the head and handle. May need to get in touch with Tim's supplier for that one. I think it was one of those dollar store deals that somehow got passed down to my wife. Probably only 10oz. Not worth the trouble. Also, after it dented my work one too many times, I put it in "file #13" Tim, there are times where I wouldn't mind doing that. I've been told explicitly since the day I asked for her hand that if I go through with it there would be no returns or refunds.
  24. I believe I have 16. Just threw one away not too long ago. It was a cheapy one that couldn't hit a nail strait if it had a laser guide. I sanded the face multiple times and it still didn't work. Should have kept it so I'd have some more bragging rights. As far as tools go, my father-in-law has me beat on most counts. He was the manager of heavy equipment for years for the largest paving company in the area so the 3' long wrenches are nothing to him. He also has 3 truck boxes in his truck bed filled with tools. And the back seat, and his boat shed...
