  1. Oookey gentlemen, it's finally home. By the first sight it is not as good as the seller said, but not as bad as I thought it could, so situation is neutral. It needs work in many areas, but is not an total project. Floorpans are fixed with screw in plates, which I don't accept. But the frame is OK as well as the body, no major rust or chickenwire covered with bondo. That is fine. So theres welding to be done, but not too much. The engine runs. Exhaust manifold is cracked and the Carter leaks badly. Fuel lines and tank are glogged, but that is not news. The clutch pedal is so stiff that you have to build rhino muscle in leg to keep it pressed. Something wrong there as well. It should have fluidrive, but I'm not sure if thats the case. When I release the clutch the car moves, shouldn't it remain steadt until I hit the gas? So the FD is not working, or somebody has changed the box during years. I have to inspect more later Those are the highlights, I'm not dissapointed, but not overly positive surprised either. Perhaps a bit towards the happy side Here are the pics I promised, fender skirts are not mounted because of transportation, but those came with the car. They fit nicely. Don't even mention the front bumber, it'll be off tomorrow...
  2. Wish it was only two millions, now that it ended with 61 bids and winning nearly 10 MILLION DOLLARS I don't know what to say. Well I say it anyway, this must be some sort of scam or money laundry? http://tinyurl.com/2j6av8
  3. Thanks eric w. I do all the work myself to my cars, except upholstering. You sure are right about our language. Sorry I haven't translated my pages into english, they used to be when I was still dragracing. I promise to jam this server tomorrow with fresh pics of Dodges new northern home Heippa ja huomiseen!
  4. Greg, my Lancer is an STW I ust finished rebuilding. It is my daily driver among all these Nippondenso Yakazagas and Audis around here. Trust me, not suitable for a shyguy, that much attention this puppy gets. It sure shares opinions
  5. Thanks, that is so true. Like week ago I was sworing to my '62 Lancer which lost third gear from freshly rebuilt 904 tranny. Well I took it out by myself in two hours, found the problem with some internet help, and managed to fix it. Installed it back in three hours with no help, and now that it is working I don't even remember ever touching it I believe this is part of the hobby, you feel like loosing it every now and then with all the problems, but when they are solved the ultimate winner stares at you in the mirror. For me this is not a hobby, this is my lifestyle. Old US tin all the way.
  6. Guys, tomorrow is the BIG day. As some of you might recall, I bought an '46 3w business coupe D24 from Illinois back in January. Well I finally received an phonecall that the car should arrive tomorrow at noon in my hometown Oulu here in Finland! Believe me this has been the longest three months in my life, and maybe tonight I'm not even able to sleep, it just gets so exciting at this point. I took a huge risk by buying it by pics only, and tomorrow will tell did I just waste my fortune or... What an adventure, the container was lost in germany for a week in the middle so that not even the shipping company had idea where it was, etc. not that funny issues along the way
  7. It's the third one on the upper row on this page http://www.cruisingnight.mpoli.fi/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=178&Itemid=29
  8. I have ordered and installed several sets of old style lap belts from Wesco. Plenty of colors, reasonable pricing etc. Recommended company. http://wescoperformance.stores.yahoo.net/nonresebe.html
  9. Sure, it's not a trailer queen by any means.
  10. We had a carshow in my hometown last weekend. Check out this It has gone through a truly massive restoration, was a total wreck when it arrived from states, no floor whatsoever etc. typical. Sure it's living it's glory now.
  11. Which one of you gentlemen has placed an bid for this General Lee? a bit overkill to my wallet
  12. Sure... runs but you cannot start it...
  13. Ok so it's doable but not that straight forward, as I quessed. My pal bought himself an industrial engine from a local forestmill, only couple of hours usage on it and I thought what if... I think I'll stop the greediness and stick with the 230. Seems like SB Mopar would go in as easily, heck, lets go with 572 hemi then oops did I got a bit carried away now
  14. Thanks Greg, doesn't sound bad at all
  15. Words of wisdom John
  16. Does the 251 fit into 230's place just like that, no interference to firewall or radiator with the longer block ? Direct bolt on to bellhousing? 1946 D-24 is my particular interest
  17. No I can't, but can you say MATTAMUSTA LUISKAPERSE real fast:D That's the same in my language...
  18. A guy in HAMB forum fabricated his own adaptor between T-5/flatty 6 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=175404&highlight=adaptor
  19. The GM 3.8 unit is Eaton M90, it is very suitable for 230 flatty. It's not quite that straight forward to keep it carburated, you'd have to go with blow through approach, and finding a suitable carb for that is maybe a challenge, perhaps some Weber unit would do. Draw through would be easier to setup, but not all the Eaton units can handle it, the rotors need a special coating. Still, it definately is very doable if not even wise thing to do! There's many 225 slants around with both turbos and superchargers.
  20. Piston speed is one critical issue among the already mentioned valves. That brings us to material weight, oiling etc. So there's not an single area that prevents old fashioned V8's to run those rpms, the basic construction just doesn't allow that even with serious mods. Those F1 engines are from another planet.
  21. We have a bad habit here in Finland for using ignition keys to start our engines
  22. Looks very good, I want to learn. Please reveal this step by step, what did you use for applying the black? Was the brown completely dry before adding black? What type of paint is rustoleum, enamel? We don't have Rustoleum in Finland but something similar will work I'm sure
  23. Coker tire has good info on their site as well, including bias to radial conversion charts http://resources.coker.com/
  24. Now we know where the Saloon doors from our local joint went
  25. Oh boy that truck needs some lowering:D Really nice stance I must admit
