  1. Finally got the pics I promised of the 42 Studebaker dash. Oldguy is apparently already there. Pretty much what I invisioned. Very cool! Dakota Digital gauges???? Anxious to see the gear indicators.
  2. Don't know if it's me, or the Apple, or the browser, or the IPS, or the new format. And, I may not live long enough understand all that s**t. So I keyed in www.redlinegaugeworks.com
  3. It's outta the pic. You were 'sposed to ask about the reverse lockout button.
  4. I'd suggest you contact Redline Gauge Works http://www.redlinegaugeworks.com/default.asp They are doing the amp. temp, oil and temp gauges for me. We're keeping the stock appearance. Ask for Shannon. I like the Hemi! What 5 spd?
  5. Redline Gauge Works in Santa Clarita Calif. is doing the conversion for my gauges. We're keeping the original appearance. http://www.redlinegaugeworks.com/default.asp I'm only doing the conversion for the amp, oil, gas and temp gauges. They are very customer oriented and generous with their opinions. Ask for Shannon. I would call them first if I had the combo you are wanting to put together. I like the Hemi. What 5 spd?
  6. Nate, I love it! Anyone have an old radio for sale cheap? Also, hope it hasn't already been mentioned, XM/Sirrus Radio is an option. Yeah there's a monthly charge but the up side is you can "dock" the receiver in the garage and as many cars as you want. Just pull the receiver/head unit from your garage dock and plug it into your P15. What I also like about the XM is you can select a music genre and the disk-jockeys often embellish the experience with a history lesson.
  7. You ain't getting me again, Duncan !
  8. Opps! Had a double post of the same info. Dunno how that happened
  9. I promised some pics. However, my converted gauges have not arrived yet and the gentleman who has the Dakota Digital gauge retro fits in the Stude, did not show this weekend. So,....in the meantime, here's a shot of my tach install. I used an old "vent cable" ferrel with the DD section to fit in the stock wiper switch hole and drilled it out to accept the tach wires.
  10. That was my answer. Only diiff., for what it's worth, I heard the dash board protected the passengers when the horse was galloping,...."dashing"....but that's really pickin fly specs outta the pepper huh! Did no one else now that or was I off topic enough that no one responded. Anyway I owe ya'll some pics.
  11. Trivia question,......What's the origin of the phrase "dash board"?. Pretty sure I know. Others? Has anyone seen one?
  12. Looks like we've got a 40 Sedan subsidiary. But I'm guessin mine is further from running than any.
  13. Yeah, nice job. Love the shift linkage. Now that it's all together and cleaned up,....looks like it should be there. Not rocket science. Just a step at a time. Amazing what you can do, eh!.
  14. I'm bettin toe-in. You can easily check and set it yourself. If that's true,....now we can argue about the correct amount.
  15. Not to highjack Bob's question to knuckleharley, or the answer,.....I saw a pretty nice retro fit of Dakota Digital gauges in a 42 Studebaker. The rectangular windows for fuel, amps, temp., and oil were about the same as those on our P-15s. He kept his original speedo with the digitals, two on each side. I'll try for a pic this weekend.
  16. Good idea for a thread. I'm working on my dash at the moment and I'm anxious to show it when completed.
  17. Math,...schmath! Visualization, some cardboard and a dozen metal trials gets it for me What I like as a welder is the opportunity to sketch in metal, i.e. tacking together quick approximations of an idea before committing to the final solution. Diff. from cardboard and/or wood ya don't have to wait for glue to dry and cutting wood makes me sneeze!
  18. That's way cool! I'm thinking the progressive linkage would be the easy part. I like your backup plan of hanging it on the wall. I'm fantasizing about modifying an aluminum intake manifold for a blower but have not taken the plunge yet.
  19. Ed's "newest addition" back in Dec. promped me to share this. Local compressor shop suggested these loops with metal pipe to address condensation in the air lines. At the bottom of the three loops is a bit of a reservoir and a ball valve for periodic draining. 'Tho not a pro by any means, I paint. And I have never had an issue with water in the air supply. -
  20. Congrats Robin! Nice car and nice to see that old American iron get some coverage. You make us look good !

  22. Let's respect Don's request for input.
  23. That's a great looking car. By the front end elevation, I'd say you're probably looking at a spring issue. And ask the guy who does the springs, if you can swap out the new ones for a diff. rate if they are still too firm, or too soft. Most serious shops will do that.
  24. Now you're talkin! How 'bout a pic,...or two?
