  1. I know those eyes are freaky. The really scary thing is---I kinda like it, in a macabre way
  2. I think I'm going to have nightmares todnite. I wonder if that Plymouth is "Christine's" mother
  3. Very, very Nice! I really like the Frenched headlights and the clean loo Do you have any "before" pics?
  4. Mine is painted Silver--as a matter darn near everything connected to the engine is painted silver, as if the whole engine was given a rattle can detailing. Does the oil filter can and lid require high temperature paint when I repaint them?
  5. If you are using the original brake pedal--you can get a kit from ECI to adapt a 67-76 Corvette M/C-http://ecihotrodbrakes.com/new_master_assemblies.html
  6. Beth is very supportive, she'll lend an extra hand when I need it. She loves driving it to work when I need the Honda. I haven't done car shows etc. but we do take the Ol Cranbrook out on the road nearly ever week in spring and fall. Beth keeps asking when I'm gonna get and Overdrive so we can take a "real" trip
  7. I am mostly retired now--I do about 8- 10 hours a week consulting. I worked 40 years for GE as a Mechanical Engineer-designing AC electric motors in the 1/4-2.5 HP range used on Washers/Dryers/Dishwashers/Air Compressors, and pumps
  8. Joe, I'm planning on doing my Cranbrook one piece at a time, using RI wire where it shows--but I do want to use a fuse block instead of the original in-line fuses. What did you use for fusing? I thought I would use a Centech PDP-1B fuse panel ----any experience with this panel?
  9. Tom--I'm so kinked up I'm not sure anyone get set me straight:D I'm still wonderin--if anyone has used the overflow type tanks
  10. Thanks Franklin --I'll try the 1/2"----I will have to fight my compulsion to fill it up all the way to the neck Mike
  11. I agree with Just put in a new brick driveway----- I've been thinking of putting adding overflow tank, Pros/Cons/suggestions?
  12. I took one of the Carbs out today--easy, real easy, maybe too easy. What should the torque be on nuts attaching the carb to the the AL offy intake? Mine came off so easy I didn't even scrape a knuckle---probably no more than 5-10 ft-lbs What's the best way to clean the carb? I have to do it in my basement so I'd like to keep the toxic/explosive fumes to a minimun
  13. Tim, Got one in the mail today from ebay--can't wait to use it---thanks for the info Mike
  14. Thanks Ed, I'll check out NAPA
  15. It's a beautiful semi-spring day here and being a shade tree mechanic (no garage), I had to get out and work on the ol 52 Cranbrook. I took a close look at the carbs and decided that they were worse than I remembered; decided to get rebuilding proto. Went to order a rebuild kit from Carb Dcotor and realized I have a problem. The medal ID tags are missing from my Carbs I have no idea what vintage of Carter BBS I have. Checked the web and found "identifying the carbs without the tags is very difficult" So am I out of luck or are the BBS series carbs close enough that any BBS rebuild kit will do (Carb Doc has 3 diff kits for the BBS) Maybe I'll end up with the dual Webers after all ( I love a good rationalization)
  16. Yep, did it all the time. One of my sons had a Dodge Shadow that refused to start, so I tested the spark in the time honored fashion of putting a paper clip in the spark plug wire. As I got ready to touch the clip to the top of the spark plug I told my son " Well if you see me jump, you'll know that the ignition system is working"----the problem was a bad fuel pump. I seem to have this habit of grounding myself to the body when I'm testing the spark
  17. Hey JD where did you get the taillights? Look like a LED cluster, could sure use them on my 52 Cranbrook
  18. Thanks to all for the inputs--I've got a plan 1) Buy a Carb Sync tool (or see if Ovaltine packs one in each 32oz can) Clean up what I got 2) Complete in-process mods (12volt conversion/disc brakes/interior) 3) Add dual exhaust 4) See if I've gained enough confidence to dissect my engine and perform a Dodge Crankshaft transplant--- If so, add 2bbl Carter Webbers That should keep me out of trouble for 18 months
  19. I agree, the orange looks is unique and has more style than the chromies
  20. LOL---is that an actual Ovaltine Adapter plate? Secret Decoder ring, made my day--Captain Midnight would be proud
  21. Found some on-line---just a vacuum device to measure flow into the carb. I understand
  22. A carb sync tool???? haven't a clue
  23. Tim, I expect this is the way I'll go--rebuild the ones I have or get a pair of the original profiles and get the oh/ah factor from nicer air cleaners
  24. A very sweet engine indeed--sounds great....At first I thought I'd copy your engine--but....lack $ to have someone rebuild it, lack the skill to do it myself. Now I'm taking the "if it ain't broke" approach, and just to optimize the engine parts I can do myself.
