  1. I was searching for a new van and found this classic. Thought someone here might be interested. http://evansville.craigslist.org/cto/3488711431.html Way more than I have to spend on one. I just wish I could get mine to look and run good.
  2. Picked up the one from Napa yesterday. It has the extra loop. Says it fits a 49 dodge truck. was $37 for just the head gasket.
  3. Would prefer a pilot house. I am not quite in the market yet. Just wondering if there are any around and try and figure out how much i need to save up.
  4. That is awesome. I was just referring to the title of the thread, not a picture. How much do you think it costs for one of those?
  5. Anybody ever seen one of these? I have 7 kids and would love one of these to replace my Dodge B3500 15 passenger van.
  6. My 51 parts book says that they changed the gasket in 50 starting with engine number T172-100903 is part #1326318 Part#1117542 is for T172-100902 and before, was different gasket. I assume that is when they went to internal from external. If you need I can scan page 265 and you can win the argument.
  7. the rockauto gasket has the little bump out like you said for the internal. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=121713 are all the rest of the holes the same? Would that little bumpout make a difference on the external bypass? You don't have a picture of the one gasket on top of the other do you? thanks for all the help so far. I have a friend coming on monday to finally get this motor running after sitting for 8 years.
  8. Mine is like that one. So External it is.
  9. this one has a bunch of year ranges. also says it will do the 201, 218, and 230. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOS-1934-60-Plymouth-Dodge-201-218-230-Head-Gasket_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem587da32ef8QQitemZ380064968440QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories What am I missing. I would really like to see a picture of that head gasket with the extra holes.
  10. this one shows a picture of the gasket for a 48 49. Does anyone have a picture of the 50 with the extra holes? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DODGE-PLYMOUTH-FLATHEAD-SIX-HEAD-GASKET-PLUGS-1933-1948_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem19b72dabe4QQitemZ110447406052QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  11. this set says it fits the 218 or 230 and 1948 to 1950 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Head-Gasket-Set-1934-1948-Dodge-Plymouth-218-230-Eng_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem587f020bbbQQitemZ380087962555QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  12. How do I tell if it has the external bypass? And I take it that means that all 50's have the external bypass? Mine is a 49 B-1-C
  13. Does anybody know if the 1950 engine gaskets will work on a 1949? They are both 218. I need to get this ordered if it is the right part.
  14. http://www.readymaderesources.com/cart/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=243
  15. FEL-PRO Part # HS7564C {HEAD SETS (HS) are used for upper engine repair only, typically on a valve grind.} L-Head engine Is this the right part? They have it listed for a 50 B-1-C and I have a 49 B-1-C. They do not list one for a 48 or 49. Any reason these would not be correct. They are both 218's This was at rockauto
  16. how come the red front end looks like one big piece?
  17. Merle and Dennis Thanks for bringing your trucks. It was great meeting you and seeing two Dodges that are actually driveable and look really nice. Some day mine will be in that category. Jeremie
  18. so i can take off my head and check and see what the problem is with no compression in two cylinders and use the same head gasket?
  19. Waukesha is not too far. I might see if we can make it. I wont be bringing my truck tho. It has compression problems. Need to tear the engine apart I think.
  20. Is this somebody from heres truck? Granted it is in australia, but they could still be a member. It was at this car show. http://www.inghamcarshow.com.au/index.html
  21. Screwdriver slot is not a bad idea, but even getting a screwdriver in there would not be too easy. I should probably take the fender off, it might be faster. The hole might be a spec cross threaded, because I am having a real tough time getting the bolt started. If I can get it started, then I don't mind taking 30 minutes tightening it. I am not sure if the original starter got wrecked from sitting for 5 years or from me trying 12volt charger on it to try and crank it.
  22. I am running into the same problem. I don't think any ratcheting wrench will fit. There is not much clearance 360 degrees around the bolt head. I would need a super shallow 5/8" socket and ratchet. I am having a hard time even getting the bolt started so that I can use the wrench on it. A stubby wrench would help, may have to go buy one. I was hoping someone had some great trick for this.
