  1. A very nice interior can be had for way less than half that amount by buying pre sewn new seat/door/headliner from a number of vendors offering choices from vintage-look to custom-update. I am very happy with what I got from Automotive Interiors.
  2. For my 49 Dodge club coupe I need to replace the rubber trim that covers the bottom of the door openings---I don't know what they are called. In my house it might be called a threash-hold/trim piece/cover???? These are about 44&1/2 inch long and are tapered from front to back, 3&1/2 to 2&1/2 inches. Thanks for any help.
  3. Try Automotive Interiors at 800 814-7533, ask for Diane. They've got all kinds of "stock" materials but when I couldn't find anything that looked more vintage, closer to my original stuff she dug up something that came much closer....got what I wanted at a fair price. Very, very happy with what I got. Not a perfect match to original but very close and has a vintage look.
  4. There was a camper like that on ebay yestersay.
  5. I just wanta say that this info is just what us new-bees really love about this forum. Thanks to all, even the jokesters for your help. If you answer one guy's question you are actually helping many more.
  6. I think my DBs were about $219 ea. With shipping to NY plus competent installation its about a $1000.00 bill for four. Another reason I like them is that the outside diameter is 29" +, about two inches more than the other set I had. I believe my engine is running a few less RPMs at 50/55.
  7. I bought the diamondback radial 700R15 square bias ply shoulder design tires with standard 3" white walls (3-1/2 & 3-3/4 available) now made with yokohama brand tires. Sure hurt the pocket book but I am very glad I saved my pennies for so long. They really have the look of an old style tire and the white walls are really smooth and bright white.
  8. Was at the show on Friday (first time). It is huge. I was only there about 6 or 7 hours, got to see maybe 1/3 of the vendor area. Lots of cars on the hill but I wanted to cruise for goodies. I did see some good deals on cars for sale near the back (#7?) gate. The show does seem to have lots of performance and specialty vendors and I saw lots of fenders and hoods being carried out. I did get to meet Gearge: seems a very likeable guy. I'm going back in July for the All-Mopar show. Hoping to maybe see a few vehicles similar to my '49 Coronet.
  9. Very nice. Glad to hear that kids are involved--they'll have a blast.
  10. You're leaving the city of good neighbors?? (but not so good career prospects!). Good luck whatever direction you go.
  11. Top gun wannabe to rear seat man "watch this".
  12. Seems like some of the modern do-dads on our engines are there to help reduce air pollution/ by-products of combustion. I'm guessing that our flat-heads are maybe not as "clean" as newer engines. But--It would be neat to see how our flatties compare on that issue too.
  13. I may have one. Measure the width ( 2" or 2-1/2") and diameter (re: 6" or 7" brake drum)
  14. Thanks to everyone for this info. It really helps educate newbees like me.
  15. My '49 2dr with a 230/fluid drive (no OD) is only getting about 14/15mpg. Runs great though??? Has a 373 rear.
  16. I'm a fairly new guy also with a 49 coronet 2dr. The first thing I did was spend some time every day reviewing old posts on this forum. It took weeks and I felt like I had learned a tremedous amount of stuff that has helped me. I'm convinced that this is one of the very best forums anywhere. I check new posts everyday.
  17. Thanks for that....a nice primer.
  18. Aside from the disagreements this kind of info is exactly what a new guy like me needs as I have no mopar experience. I have read many references to the water tube and had no idea what it was or what it did. A recent post asked the "lurkers" to get more involved. These technical presentations are really important to me. The disagreements are really good in a way too as they present different perspectives that actually provide more clarity to issues. I appreciate the polite and diplomatic approach to those different observations and experiences. Keep it up please and THANKS.
  19. Yeah, I'm mostly hanging around the edges. I got my 49 coronet this past fall, found this forum and have been checking it out every day since. I have owned lots of cars including a few old ones but am not a "real" mechanic. I also have zero experience with mopar. I have the car I bought because it was nearby and relatively cheap. I spent several weeks going back in time on this forum until I have read every post. What a gold mine of knowledge! I've still got questions but have learned enough to start a mild update including all new interior, paint, etc. thank you, thank you. Question: can I search members by state to see who might be nearby me? That would be neat to compare notes on local shows, cruise-ins, etc. I will be posting some more questions soon.
  20. Ps & Qs is actually from the printing industry as in the old days of hand set hard type the small cases of each letter were very similar, so the expression means "pay attention to what you're doing". (don't use the wrong part).
  21. The things that hang on the outside of the passenger door? Do they contain ice/water or what? How do they work?
  22. I have seen several vendors of keys on ebay and bought some for my 49 coronet. Do a search using your year and make and you'll probably come up with something.
  23. The carb looks similar to how vehicles like jeeps were set up for amphib landings with a snorkel type deal. might wanta check to see if gen is 6, 12, or 24 volts.
  24. A tip for slow vac wipers: Back in my old days when the wiper wasn't working very good we would put a few drops of light oil in through the opening and it would lube/swell the seals to make it operate like new again.
  25. As a newbee to flattie Mopars I am really impressed with how you guys can make them so pretty. Thanks for sharing
