  1. I wanted to check back in and say hi. Been away from the site for to long as life has been crazy since my move to Seattle a yr ago. Since my last post, my 48 woodie has been in storage since I moved and after 9 months of trying to sell my house it happened and now finally in a new house, I am working to build a new garage and then bring the 48 home to again start on it. Its current in storage in California keeping dry. Looking forward to keep up with whats going on. If someone in the NW knows of a solid 48-50 ish panel project for sell, let me know.. I want to build one of those as a daily driver and parts hauler for my 48.
  2. This is an interesting post. I have been thinking of doing something similar now that I am in the NW where it can get icy out (or even snow). I would like to have a dodge PU or panel to go with my woodie (for hauling parts) and it would be nice to have 4x4 for the winter (as it would be my daily driver). I have heard the standard cab longbed is the prefered chassis (not sure what the wheel base is) or possibly a extracab short bed and more the rear susp forward slightly. I think once i am situated into my new place, I will look for a donor S-10 and then keep and eye out for a 48 - ? PU to put on it. My goal will be to do an inexpensive project that I will not be worried to drive in any type of weather.
  3. I have not spent much time on here lately as my life has gotten very busy. In the past few months work has been non-stop travel and after 16 yrs with my current job I decided to take a new position with another company. I am in the process of packing up and relocated from Charleston SC to Seattle Wa area.. 3000 miles.. My 48 Dodge was picked up on Saturday by a transport company and is heading west to get stored at my parents place in Cal until after winter and I can get situated in the NW. (and find a nice dry place to store/ work in it). The woodie was loaded to the edge with all the spare parts and other automotive items i have gathered over the years.. The last two weeks has seen me doing nothng but boxing up the house and 3 car garage (man that is hard work and I have decided I hope my next garage is my last... to much stuff to move). I will check in once I get relocated and a computer hooked back up.. Ken
  4. sorry to hear that.. get well soon

  6. Been away for a few weeks busy with work.. Glad you could use it.. and glad it is better then what you had...
  7. you may have to cut the firewall. Have you taken measurements of the length from back of block to forward edge of fan...
  8. I have never rode in a Pilot house or a Woodie...... So I am 0 for 2 on my project...
  9. man that sucks.. could be when you did tighten the three it was just enough to unstick the head near one of the other bolts. Grade 8 should hold up.. as mentioned above, a second tightening should have been done.. as for temp, 212 should not have been an issue (if you temp gage is accurate). I would wonder why it got that hot when driving 60.. do you have all the factory sheetmetal around the hood/ radiator installed to ensure the air goes thru the radiator and not around ??
  10. may be to wide.. have you checked the track width..
  11. There are several things all mentioned about First is the master cylinder (what is it... please do not tell me its still a stock single reservior... if so.. very bad in today's world from a safety standpoint). Second. I believe the brake lines should be the same size to get equalized pressure (smaller line can give higher pressures) Third will be a need for a porportioning valve to dial in front to rear braking..
  12. oh it can do it,, you just might need a few more 6 bangers.. or one mightly V8
  13. I have always used California Car Cover company. they are good to work with and I think can do a cab cover.. sometime you can give them dimesions and they will build one for you
  14. grey. do you mean the main retaining ring (held on by three bolts) or the chrome outer bezel..
  15. Tony, parts shipped today.. should be there Thur or Friday..
  16. Tony, got your note and sent a reply. I am letting it drain now and will mail out what you need on Tuesday (see my PM)
  17. Tony, I have the clamp off.. and most of the steering box apart. the bearings in mine look pretty good, spin nice Will send you a PM to get your address Ken
  18. The second pic looks like my set up.. Does the steering box come apart from the steering shaft. If so, let me know how and I will try . You can have the whole assembly (or just the box) if you want to pay for shipping, I will not be using it... Now that I know we have the same set up, I can try next weekend to pull the clamp off (and what ever other parts you want off of it).. going to be out of town for business most of this week Ken
  19. yes, that is my original fenders. one was worse then it showed. The front lip that bolts to the front grill pan (not sure what to call it) was rusted all the down the front edge (and rear edge by the door)... way more work to save then it was worth.. I did save one fender that only had rust around the rivets.. I will try to save it later on...
  20. Did a quick look (will do better this weekend) but it looks like the column in my 48 does not have that part.. Its has a clamp around the base of the column (where it connects to the box) .... but the pic you posted is kinda small on my computer.. Maybe I am not looking in the right area. My steering box is a 'GEMMER' brand unit incase that makes a difference Did only certain years have that style set up?
  21. I think us American car guys think of Utes being a one piece uni-body... that is really a nice one... I have always been a fan of Utes
  22. my original fenders has the standard rust thou one was really bad and had most of the front lip gone. I found two very nice fenders on the West Coast in the desert and they are cherry.. But I been thinking about removing the rivet heads and go flush to prevent future problems.. since i am not going 100% stock that will not bother me.. (going to fill the lower one also).. have thought about modifying the rear edge by the cab where the foam goes to fill some of the gap with metal.. (but these ideas are not in concrete).. so much other things to do first
  23. Tony let me take a look at my column and see if I still have it.. If I do, its yours... If I can figure out how to get it appart
  24. clean truck.. the new Goodguys Gazette has atleast one Dodge PU in it this month
  25. what is your pattern. 6x5? measure the distance between studs across from each other (on center) from that you can determine what is available to fit
