Tim, You got that right. Brother in law tried to pawn off a radial arm saw and another bench on me Saturday. Told him no thanks. I have become a non pack rat.

I doubt you'll find them for the original wheels. I looked all over in the late 90's and never found any that would fit. You'll have to change wheels as Greg mentioned if you want baby moons. That said. If you remove the paint on the boat of the original caps they will look more like baby moons than original, especially from a distance.

After all the trouble you had on the left side, that's great. Nice when things go right.

You bet. Really wasn't looking forward to tracing wires, testing the starter, etc. That can be a real pain. Had to laugh at myself when I found the problem.

I had a set of these custom made for my coupe some years ago. Made out of aluminum and polished. The pattern is the same as the original escutcheons. However, decided to put the originals back on the car when I did the interior. I have seen escutcheons advertised in Speedway too. Won't be original, but.....at least they should have them. Saw them in the paper catalog though. Don't know if they are on their website.

Well........with much intensive labor, I finally found my battery drain. Really haven't had a chance to look for the drain until late this afternoon. Checked the wires at the ignition and they seemed to be OK. Took the trickle charger off the battery in the garage. Sat it in the tray and just shoved the cables on without tightening them down, or installing the hold down. Cables were snug enough that way. Figured I have to remove them anyway since I wouldn't have time to hook up the analyzer until tomorrow. As usual, got in the car, turn it on, hit the button and it fired right up without a complete turnover. Needle on amp meter was just barely over to the right from the 0. Shut it down and restarted it about 3 times and the needle did the same thing. Shut the car off the final time. Wanted to let it sit for awhile to see if it drained, and how fast it was draining. Came in the house and watched the news for about 30 minutes. Went back out and the coupe fired right up again as usual. But........this time the amp meter swung over between the second and third mark on the meter. So.......she's draining fast when sitting. Let it run for about 3 or 4 minutes and the amp meter was again just a little past the 0, so shut it down. Got ready to get out of the car and I found the problem..........Read below. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Tim was half right when he mentioned the dome light. Now it's getting dark outside. As I was getting out of the car to disconnect the cables I glanced in the rearview mirror. Low and behold, the dome light was on. I must have put a new bulb in there when I put the headliner in and forgotten that I did that. Don't know how that got turned on, must have accidentally turned it on somehow. Never use it since I don't drive it in the dark. Since it was getting dark out, that light was really nice and bright. So........now my battery drain is gone. Will put the hold down back on the battery and hook it back up tomorrow. Pulled the cables off for the night since they were not tight. Probably didn't really need to replace the battery. But.....glad I did anyway. This new one was about $30 cheaper and it has about twice the cranking amps as the old one did.

Frankie, you should know by putting a title for the thread like this, Tim is going to be sure to look at it.

Ben, Not sure but I believe the 12 volt bulb has the two pins in different locations, so don't think a 12 volt socket would work for a 6 volt bulb due to that. Otherwise, you are correct. The socket doesn't care what voltage bulb you put in it.

If you can explain what you need, they won't look at you like you are crazy. When I go into an auto parts store looking for something on this order, I ask to look through their books for something that might work, if they don't have the exact item. Then, they will be more helpful. Same applies if you go to an old Ford or Chevy vendor like I mentioned for those sockets. They will probably tell you they won't fit your Plymouth. Now, maybe the socket hole in the housing may not be the same exact size. But...you can make it smaller or larger if they don't. The important thing is that you get the new socket that you need or want. You don't even have to stay with the original size bulb. If the Ford or Chevy bulb is a different number (but I believe they are the same), then just buy new bulbs that are used with that socket. It's not rocket science and no one is going to see what type of socket it is, once it's in the car. It's sort of like the inside rearview mirrors. Early 50's models Chevy rearview mirror is shaped and attached with the exact arm. So.........all that's needed is to paint it to match the Mopar cars. But........if you ask most old Chevy vendors, they will tell you it's for a Chevy not a Plymouth. I know, been there, done that. So........you have to know what fits, or if you can make it fit. Making something fit on these old cars is a must in some cases.

That's nice. You should send that picture into Jay Leno. He loves pets with coats, boots and hats on. Or, I guess he still does. Haven't been watching him now since he's started his new show. Only saw it once or twice so far.

Have to agree.. That guy is.......way........overpriced on his stuff. But.....wouldn't call all his stuff junk. But would do without before I paid those prices.

Just saw a commercial on TV for some glass company that will repair rock chips, instead of replacing the windshield. They claim the cost for them to repair the windshield is also covered under auto insurance. Sorry, don't know the name of the company in the commercial. Don't pay real close attention to them as a rule. But.....do remember it was one of the national companies.

I doubt you'll find a true unused NOS socket and housing. If you do it will be like looking for a needle in a haystack. If you need sockets only to make them into turn signals for example, any socket that will accept the bulb will do. You don't even need to stay with a Mopar socket for that. You might find some reproductions though through an Old Ford or Chevy vendor. Most old cars used the same light bulbs, so the sockets would be the same also. You have to think outside the box for some things.
-
If you want to see one up close and personal like. Stick your head under the front fender. You'll see the back of the housing up there. Or........remove the screws holding the parking light bezel onto the car and remove the lens. Now you can see the front of the housing.
-
The housing would look similar to the picture of the dome light housing except, the bulb socket would be in the center of the back of the housing. They show those in a Parts Manual, if you were to buy one.
-
Not only are they not housings, they don't appear to be original Mopar either. They do look like the right lenses though, just aftermarket lenses. If they were original NOS Mopar lenses they would be in a Mopar box.

What's all the stink about over a picture of a light kit. I did not see that picture, or if I did it didn't bother me.
-
Greg, Since they made this one a two seat convertible though, they could have hidden any cross supports. Could have put them behind the package shelf area that comes almost all the way up to the back of the front seat. I would think you'd get just as much support that way, plus then it would be hidden.

There was something on TV about the people in medical care being required to get the shots too. Some have refused, but don't know it they got a court order or not. Back in the 60's when I was in the military, you didn't have choice either when it came to getting shots, of any kind. You really got a lot of them then, especially when getting ready to go overseas to Europe or Asia.

Advice on painting "Special Deluxe" Emblem
Norm's Coupe replied to RobertKB's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Not sure about what color red they should be. Might be on the main site reference section. Personally, I would either paint the background the color of the car, or leave it all chrome with no paint. -

I don't know about using vasoline. Seems like that could get a little messy. I think I would simply put car wax on the letters and not wipe it off. Then when the paint has cured, wash the whole emblem. Paint won't stick to the wax/polish since it has silicone in it and would wash and wipe right off. Or, use a candle to rub candle wax on the letters (small birthday candle would work well). Then after the paint has cured it would just peel right off too. Vasoline is greasy. -
Leave the old radio in the dash as is. Pick up a small portable radio that works off batteries or 110 volts for around $25 bucks with a CD player. Works for me, and when I don't want to use it in the car I can take it out and use it in the garage or workshop.

As mentioned, Duct Tape the miracle cure will work. So would the dryer duct hose. But........if you want black, you could pick up some of the plastic drain hose. It comes in various diameters at the hardware or big box stores.

Well Greg, we swear by them. But......on the other hand my wife's brother and his wife don't get the shots either, and she worked at a hospital in radiology all her life before retiring in 03. But........the difference between them and us is. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas when we get together, they both have real bad colds. But.......it's also up to each individual to do what they think best for their self. Some people can't take the shots due to other medication they take too.
