  1. I have a 48 1 Ton for parts. Probably none of the hard to find parts but the truck is complete. The only item missing (so far) is the Ram off of the hood. If you need some parts let me know and I'll check it out. Mike 651-437-4205
  2. You can install a .060" wall bronze liner in the existing guide and ream, or ball broach, it to the correct size. They are installed with the guide in the engine. We have these in all types of engines. The bronze liner is probably a one time repair to the valve guide. Even on a everyday driver you'll never put enough miles on to wear it out.
  3. I just put it in and did nothing else. Left the dash lights on one day and the battery died. I wasn't exactly sure how to charge an 8 volt battery with a charger that has only 6 or 12 so I put it on 6 for about 15 minutes and it fired right up. Like I said, so far so good Mike
  4. I put a 8 volt battery in my 6 volt truck at the beginning of the summer. So far, so good. Don't notice lights any brighter and charges fine without any changes to charging system, just put it in. The starter is where it really made a difference, turns over alot faster than the 6 volt battery ever did. Mike
  5. Two locations now, one north (near you) and one off Robert in West Saint Paul. I try not to go to often, I bring home a bunch of stuff I don't really need, but it's such a good deal!
  6. I checked my source in Minneapolis, they have them in stock. Your cost $25.19 each plus the shipping to Canada. Can go postal, postal is always the least exspensive option when shipping to Canada. Could ship to you on Wednesday. Let me know if you still need a set. Thanks Mike
  7. "1/4 cup chopped olives" Sounds good but, is that black or green?
  8. I'll have my son, when he is not to busy of course, help me post a picture.
  9. Does anyone on here know how it worked and what exactly it did. Saw it at an estate auction, went super cheap, looked cool & really old, I just had to have it. Won't ever use it just clean it up and paint it.
  10. I've used my truck several times over the last two weeks with the 8 volt battery and I have to say it starts a whole lot better than it ever did. The thing I notice the most is when I make a short stop, anytime under 10-15 minutes, my truck would always turn over a little slower (with the six volt battery) than normal. It always starts but has me worried sometimes. Now that I have the 8 volt battery it spins over great all the time. I put a volt meter on the 8 volt battery, not running and then running. When not running it has about 8 1/2 volts, after start up it goes to just shy of 9 volts so the stock system has enough volts to charge it back up to eight volts. As far as lights go, you can't tell. They don't seem any brighter than with the six volt. It appears the 8 volt battery works pretty good. I know this is kinda short term but will see how it works thru the summer.
  11. I have looked at doing this also. I have a remote mount kit for a small block chev. The only problem I see is that the kit has very large fittings compared to the tiny fittings on the 230. Would need maybe a bunch of adapters to reduce it down or just make a custom adapter. Cleaner look? = That's a matter of opinion. Better filtration? = Canister or spin on, the filters are made of the same material. Pressure to get to the fender and fill the filter? = Yes All in all it won't make any difference to the engine.
  12. We use "Pioneer" brand products for most all of our soft plug needs in our shop. For what it's worth our supplier has sixty 10 packs on the shelf right now.
  13. Has anyone ever used one of the eight volt batteries on the totally stock six volt system? I have one and would use it but will my six volt system charge it and/or will it burn up stuff?
  14. I think there was at least three versions of that crankshaft in the Slant 6. The year is critical because they won't interchange.
  15. Saw one on "American Pickers". They valued it at $50.00 and said it came from early 50's truck. It was the same as on my 1948 one ton. How close are they on the value do you think?
