  1. Not so many bolts to take out as last person to work on this welds the fenders in place. I had to cut the welds out. Also had to cut a few stubbern bolts.
  2. Got the front fenders off. Again outside so pretty but underneath...
  3. Sure -- my dad runs the finance end of this -- he'll reach out.
  4. Moor rust. There seems like there’s no limit to it...
  5. Here she is in all her exposed glory. 230 flathead six. Salivating excessively.
  6. The experienced members may not care much but...going to start breaking down the front and thought this was a good way to drain the radiator without getting the suspension all wet with antifreeze. The pipe is just wedged in place.
  7. I guess most of the rust has fallen away. I get worried when the old bolts twist away with the metal (we’ll rust) but dad says don’t worry and that its all good so long as the outer body and frame are still solid. Does anyone know if the Plymouth Dr does house calls?
  8. Right rear finder. More rust but better tire ?
  9. Look at that tire ? And my dad took it for a test drive when we bought it. Frame is getting easier to see now. Still looks like a lot of surface rust but nothing that can’t be cleaned up.
  10. Hiding some real work underneath
  11. Speaking of going slow. Back left fend took 1.5 hours today. I know it looks good on the outside...
  12. Thanks — responded in the messenger function
  13. Running list of parts needed / wanted Front and back bumper assemblies (Thank you ebruns1) Front Fender Trim Pieces both sides Front Grill (not the stainless pieces, the grill behind the stainless) Front headlight Buckets pair. w/ or w/o assembly Brake conversion kit and related parts front suspension needs still to be determined Rear suspension needs still to be determined New Tires Headliner seatbelts three point aircraft style rewireing needs still to be determined floor pannel needs (and other pannels) still to be determined Will update as teardown proceeds.
  14. Got the front grill off today. All that black painted stainless trim seems to be in okay shape was painted blue too. But seems like paint is hiding some good stainless. Can’t say the same for the grill behind the crome. It’s charred. We won’t clean it right away as job one is tear down. Breaking a lot of bolts, screws and fasteners.
  15. Headlight buckets/assembly are rusted through and I understand these need to be closed to be more water tight. There is an original pair on eBay for $725. Just crazy unless your working on an absolutely original rebuild. Dad asked me to see if there are any aftermarket fabricators for this or cheeper options available else he is going to to fabricate something. Any one know of anything? There are a lot of very similar buckets on-line for similar year but different model/makes. How universal was this part?
  16. Thank you -- this picture convinced my Dad that I could stay with the Bench!!!
  17. Dad clarified his concern around the front bench seat is more related to destractions while driving.
  18. Okay real question for safety, my dad says I have to switch bench to bucket in the front and get three-point, shoulder belts in front and back. I like the bench in the front and don't think the bucket seat is necessary if we put in the three point belts. Help! If you all agree with my dad then what's would be a good look to keep somewhat the same period feel
  19. Okay now I think its just mess with the new kid on the block time -- the 47 dash photos look more like min ethane the 42 dash photos. How do you tell the difference? My dad just told me to go to DTW and ask for a yard of flight line too tie down the bows on the headliner -- is he just messing with me too?
  20. other than the front cover and a few more years added, is there a meaningful difference between the book on bottom left and good on bottom right?
  21. Thanks. That will help me finding parts. Yes this car is a real collection of stuff 1) 1955 230 engine 2) Ford Bahamas blue paint 3) just found another serial number on the fire wall in the engine compartment that’s making wonder if that’s been welded in sometime over this cars life. 4) now the dash too cool agree with PA I like this one more. 5) some interesting stuff going on with the rear finders that I’ll post about soon. but that’s making it a real historical research project.
  22. Got it. Thanks. Edits made
  23. I just assumed a 2 door was a coupe. How do you tell the difference?
  24. Betting Kenwood Green over Balfour Green (this lighter green color is still visible where the doors hinges connect to the body). The tape on the inside indicates someone painted it "Ford Bahama Blue" if that's a color.
