Don Coatney Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 It was really great to meet you in Detroit and get a close up viewing of your Caniadian Plodge. Hope you had a safe trip home and look forward to seeing more of your collection. For those not in attendence Jeff brought several car related items he has collected over the years. One was a large notebook of matchbook covers from car dealers in the 40's on up. Must have been 200 or more matchbooks in there. So I was ready to fire up my smoking pipe. I asked Jeff for a light and he did not have one. Go figure;) Quote
Young Ed Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Jeff does have a very nice car. I believe he has a couple more nice ones at home too. Don you caught part of a very rare car that he was parked next to too. Quote
Don Coatney Posted August 7, 2008 Author Report Posted August 7, 2008 You are correct Ed; Jeff does have more cars at home and the car he is parked next to is rare. A 4 door vert. Did you get any pictures of it? Quote
Young Ed Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 I believe I did take a picture of it but I don't have them uploaded to the bucket yet. Will have to look after work. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 That is probably a 39 Plymouth 4 door convertible sedan. Back in the 1970s there was one of those for sale at a Ford dealership in a town 20 miles from here. Kind of run down, but was running and driving as I recall. Think the owner wanted $1500 for it at that time. Did not really turn me on for style, etc.....but I guess someone bought it. Have no idea where it went. One fellow says only 387 convertible sedans were built in 1939. Pretty rare. Probably resembled this one. Or this one..... Quote
Young Ed Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Bob it was a 39. Only year plymouth ever had a convertible sedan. What I read is the bodies were leftover 37-38 chryslers and they made them plymouths to use them up. Not sure about the sedans but the 39 convertible coupes were the first power convertible top.
