Hear Brothers!

I was dazed & amazed yesterday at my local mall parking lot to spot almost immaculate P12 convertible there among a heard of Toyotas and opels...

It is registered in Finland and obviously recently well restored, see the below pictorial testimonial:

The spots on the nose are dead bugs & flies...

The newly installed badge reads "the flying horse" in finnish!!!

Unfortunately I have no idea of the owner or home town of this beauty.

That's a beauty.

There is something about the steering column which gives away a secret about the car.

A very well done job and it's killing bugs like it should!

Ah yes the Athens of Finland, center of education and Host City for the Rallye of Finland event of the world rallye championship. Nice looking convert.

Thanks for your compliments, Gregg...;)

Pat, I am a bit ashamed, but I have to admit I did not noticed the trick while gazing at the cockpit myself - Is there an automatic transmission dial on the column? - I must defend by telling that this is the 1st and only P12 I've seen "live", thus details do not jump on me...

I just learned from another forum, that the owner/builder of this P12 is Mr. Kauko Latva from helsinki. The car was imported as a wreck in 2004 from USA.

I also learned, that the car has won a torphy in a hot rod show in street rod class, thus I belive it may hide V8 and o-matic under the silky skin...

I certainly wasn't criticizing the car...it's a beauty, and it doesn't bother me that it has an automatic, I just thought that it was well done and the column shift was well camouflaged.

I would have it in my garage in a second and not change anything.

Pat,

No sweat - I did not took your comment as critic on the car.

Just that I do not know the car or the owner and externally it appeared very original exept the wide wheels and full moon hub caps.

After having learned a little bit of the cars history and power plant, I admire it as much as I did in the first glimpse. It is a fine machine and reliable modern V8 does not make it any worse. Obviously it has been a huge job to bring it back to present glory...

Let the good THINGS roll.

P.S.

Fireball,

Do you know the (possible) story behind the extraordinary nose badge "Lentävä Hevonen" ?

Nope, but when I discussed with the owner year ago, he showed me the project pics and I can tell you guys that the job done has been massive.

The starting point was quite pathetic, and what a beauty it's now.

Fireball,

I read a story in a web-magazine and do belive the restoration/soft rodding of the Plym has been a heroic effort. It is stunning now.

Looks like small hubcaps and trim rings on the wheels. Can't tell if the

caps have any writing on them.

Bob,

There is no text in the hub caps. If I trust my memory, the wheels are appx. size 235R15 and chrome trim on them looks like aftermarket. They do look very good under the P12, though.

Pekka.....definitely a beautiful car. As you may know, yellow is my favorite

color. A lot of credit goes to the man for making it so nice.
